I bought a used 360 off of Ebay, and I confirmed that it was one with a BenQ drive, as that is all I have had experience with. I got it in, and all external appearances seem to confirm that it is a BenQ, the white wire visible through the front, "Model No. VAD6038" printed on the drive, etc. However, when I run Jungleflasher, it returns the following:
Vendor: PLDS
Name: DG-16D2S
F/W Rev: 7485
I searched for the name, and it seems this is Lite-On data. So, can anyone tell me what I have here? Is my drive still flashable via the regular method that BenQs are flashed by, or does it have to be flashed like a Lite-On?
my assumption is that the previous owner replaced his DVD drive with a BenQ. The first drive was a Lite-On so he spoofed the BenQ and flashed it as if it were a Lite-On.
So basically, flash it as if it were a Lite-On
team jungle has instructions on their site for this kinda stuff
Hook it up with the tray half open.
Dump the firmware.
Tell it no when it wants to auto load liteon fw.
Go and find the the benq fw you want to use and hit the spoof to target button.
Then write that fw to the drive.
Make sure you save the dumped firmware so you don't lose your key.
