Hi all,

It's been a while since I posted here since losing my Xbox 360 to the red rings a couple of years back. I am however considering purchasing a new Elite 360. I am now in the US and was wondering if my old UK Xbox 360 HD DVD player would be compatible with this new console?

Also I am a bit out of date with firmware modification I can see by looking through the boards. Is the latest Elite 360's easy to flash/mod without any chips or soldering so that backup discs can be played? And could someone send me a clear link or something showing how this is all done.

Greatly appreciate any help

Hi I found this on a question and answers page after a little googling. I read something like this before, but beforeI started just typing crap, I thought I'd check and see first

Q. Is the Xbox 360 HD-DVD Player region-free?

A. For HD-DVD movies, yes as are all HD-DVD players. For standard DVDs, no. A lot of people were hoping the HD-DVD drive might provide a loophole to watch out-of-region standard definition movies on the Xbox 360. However, the Xbox 360 HD-DVD Player assumes the region of the console itself when it comes to standard DVDs.
