hello all,

i have moved to a house where there is a chorus socket on the wall. i presume this socket was on the house before they merged to UPC.
i have yet to sign up to anything but am getting ~20 channels by connecting the output to a tv. is there a box i can get that will still give me these channels.. and maybe more??

i thought they merged to upc? Anyway, the house used to have an old chorus box but has nothing now. i've just a coax cable going from an output on the wall to the tv and have ~20 channels. i can get upc digital installed but would rather not

What area are you in and it may narrow it down as its hard to give advice without a bit more info.

Well then you should be able to receive all the sports channels etc if you upload the latest firmware onto it, dont think chorus has changed to Nagra3 yet.

As far as I can gather its The Box T or Digivox T you need,no sports clear on anything else.

Here we get into individual preferences. I have a Dreambox DM800 and it simply rocks. It is currently clearing Corus MMds just fine. And when that stops I have all the files to load for cs. The box is the coolest thing ever, you just need to have patience learning how to program a UNIX box

but wont you need to change the tuner? does it not have a cable tuner in it at present? for CS, you will need a sat tuner in it

they are linux alright. but there is different tuners on em, Sat and Cable etc, you will need to change out the tuner for it to work on sat versus cable and vice versa.

Sorry, Linux it is. The new DM800 allows you to swap in and out tuner modules so you only need to buy the new tuner circuit card. In fact the darn thing came with a DVB-S card in it so I had to buy a DVB-T card to run it on corus

That was a stroke of luck! So all you need to do is swap the tuners and throw up a dish.

will order a full hd sub from sly and let them put the dish up for me. then just cs with a few buddies. the cs setup takes about 2 minutes and is as easy as pie. nothing like the torture it took to get all the files necessary to run on corus. you live and learn
