Can I play legit games (retail games) on my softmodded wii?

Ok i might be giving my Wii to my sister for a while and i'm wondering what would happen if she puts in a new game? Will the updates on the discs brick the wii? Do I have to un-softmod my wii?

Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

This gets asked pretty much ever day.

Yes you can play original games just fine.

No updates won't brick the wii, but they will likely remove your softmod and make you install it again.

Search function is a handy tool that can answer your questions.

play my legit ones through same channel as backups neogamma R7 this way it never asks me in the disc channel to do the 4.2 update, I never use the disc channel at all. You can load gamecube ones through disc channel if you use them, i don't worry about that as they never ask you to do update.

I don't have Neogammea installed and was wondering if it installs as a channel? or do you have to run Neogamma from the HBC?

If you install neogamma as a channel it will run as one. Otherwise you run it from the homebrew channel.

You could install preloader and enable the block updates from game disc hack.
