I am new to modding and playing copied games but my last deployment destroyed too many of my games to not try. I currently have an unflashed 360 with the BenQ VAD6038. I did my research and found that I need:

1. A kreon flashed dvd drive such as the Samsung SH-D163B
2. A DVD+R DL burner such as the Pioneer DVR-216
3. Xbox backup creator software
4. ImgBurn software
5. Verbatim dual layer dvds

Aside from the blank dvds everything is available from this website

http://jimbowilcox.com/index.php?main_pa...793346d65cad99c

Is it a good deal and will that work for making copies of my games? Along with that I am looking for liquid cooling because lets face it 120 degrees is too hot for a 360 and I want to be able to keep it safe from that and the sand. I found the Koolance system at:

http://www.koolance.com/water-cooling/pr...?product_id=328

I would like to keep playing on Xbox live but that doesn't matter much sitting in a tent in Iraq. The final idea for this project is to have everything including the extra drives for making copies and a cheap laptop mounted inside a Pelican case like the one below with everything mounted on a frame on the inside for stability. Everything but the cooling block would be sitting behind plexiglass to protect it from the sand. The lid of the case would open upward with an LCD embedded in the foam. The project sounds a bit extreme but me and the Marines I talk to think it is possible and that it might survive a combat deployment.

If I messed up on anything or if you have any other advice to add please let me know. I want to try and get this right so that I can enjoy my games while away and not worry about them being consumed by the desert.

rather than getting a kreon drive I just flashed my benq to the ixtreme 0800 (from xbins). Then with the drive still connected through sata I could use xbox backup creator to rip the iso (remember to unlock the drive first), then run it through abgx360 to verify/patch and make the .dvd file for you to burn

Ha Ha LOL

I'm a British Marine and i take my Flashed xbox with me everytime i deploy to Afghan. It's more of an essential piece of kit to me than my SA80 !!!
I just take it as is. In my eyes it's worth taking it cos it helps me relax and take my mind off things. Plus i'm away from my nagging wife and so get chance to play the bloody thing.
I take it as given that the sand will mess it up worst case scenario and it isn't that much to just buy a replacement and flash again when back off ops (or even get one posted out to u as a replacement if still deployed if it messes up)

Anyways your aircon not working in your tents when u out there or what ????

Peace

Always love meeting Marines. I'm not one myself I am a Navy corpsman. I do understand what you are talking about with needing to play while over there but or next deployment is going to be a forward unit and we won't have the best setup. My Macbook Pro got ruined last time i was in Kuait and that was inside with air conditioning.

Just wanted to pop in and wish you guys the best of luck during your tours if/when deployed! Your service is greatly appreciated! As far as the topic goes is this your only/primary 360? If so I would suggest picking up the latest revision/version of the 360 so as to help minimize any heat issues you may encounter and then use that one to mod.

yes it replaces the need for a kreon drive but it's not the regular ixtreme (though later versions are supposed to have 0800 mode built in), but rather a purpose-made 0800 mode ixtreme. It lets you rip the game and takes care of all the security stuff.
