Hey all. So I've been doing my research on here and I came to the conclusion on why my pc keeps freezing when I'm trying to flash a samsung. I guess the drive is being polled and it gets stuck in sequence. I read that a solution to use hacked drivers. I'm not using a card adapter though. I'm hooking the SATA cable directly to my SATA inputs in my 32 bit MB. The basic PortIO32 driver works great with Hitachi.

Where do I download the hacked driver? Or does anyone know the procedure to hack your drivers? Thanks friends.

AMD Athalon x2

Just remove the viamraid.sys from the drivers folder and keep it in a different location. Reboot and then you should be able to flash. "

I cant find viamraid.sys in my driver folder. I'm guessing because I'm not using a RAID card or whatever. Closest thing that I see in my drivers folder is viaagp.sys.

Yes, the vmraid.sys file is for the via6421a card that is recommended for flashing drives. You will not be able to remove your drivers as more than likely your motherboard needs to installed to function.

Would say the best option is for you to buy the above sata card, they only cost about $10 - $15

No Worries.

In my experience, Hitachi's are the worst drives. They never seem to have 1 single way of flashing them and sometimes they just wont play ball. Last time I tried to flash one, I gave up and spoofed a benq in less time it takes to make a cup of tea.

Well, I finally broke down and bought a VIA 6421. I installed it. Disabled it. Removed the driver. Enabled it. JungleFlasher recognized it fine. But once again when I got down to flashing it froze. Actually, to be exact I could barely get to the second or 3rd period when I click "Read" before it freezes.

Should I remove portIO32 and download the new jungleflasher?

I like to make sexy time with non 79 Hitachi drives, yes?

Do download and install the new JungleFlasher, but leave PortIO on there. Just to clarify, is it the Samsung you are flashing now or the Hitachi?

Just to add my two pennith.....

Apaz the new JF programme has 'on the fly' PortIO drivers for x32 and x64 bit machines.

Can't verify how well these work but it is deffo a step in the right direction :)

Yup flashing the Samsung. I'm wondering if the "on the go" drivers from the new JF will clash with PortIO32. Oh well only one way to find out.

Also just got done reading on another thread that only the inside sata plugs on the VIA card work for him for some reason. I'll try that since I've been hooked to the external port of the card.

i've had the PortIO drivers installed since i started modding fw a good while ago and never had any issues with freezing whilst modding any drives?

just goes to show how individual set ups can either go sweet as or be a pain in the frikkin ass......
