Help with PS3 Update looping!

Long story short, I got a PS3 from my friend who didn't want it because it didn't work, and it is very buggy at the moment. It is the 60gb type and like, It usually doesn't turn on at all. Green light, drive turns on and ejects fine, controller syncs at p1 and fan speeds up, but no video. Rarly it does turn on, and so I decided to update it with a usb to 3.15. It gets to about 60-70 and fails with the 8002F14E. Supposidly that is Blue Ray related? It looks like it's connected fine. Blue light, and it ejects. I can't get it to stop updating now so I have no idea what to do. Also, this thing has been taken apart many times, so if it could be a loose part, it probably is. Thanks!!!!

Check the cover on the RSX chip and also make sure you have good quality thermal compound, applied evenly and thinly.
