To play your backups online you will need to patch it. In order to patch it you will need the disc ID of the game you want to patch. Follow the steps below:

STEP 1: Download the two programs below:

Image Patcher: http://www.ps2ownz.com/forums/showthread.php?t=17888

Disc ID Utility: http://www.ps2ownz.com/forums/showthread.php?t=17105

NOTE: If you cannot get access to the two links above, give me your email and I'll send the files to you.

STEP 2: Burn the Disc ID Utility to a CD-R.

STEP 3: Load the Disc ID Utility in your PS2. Next, insert the game you want to patch. (NOTE: You will need to insert the original game, not the backup. The backup will just give you many invalid IDs.) After the IDs of the game show up, copy it down on a piece of paper.

STEP 4: Make an image of the game you're tryin to patch.

STEP 5: Open up the Image Patcher you downloaded. Then, press "Select Image File" and select the image of the game you just made. Next, click "Scan". Then click "Verify". After that, enter the disc IDs that you wrote down on the piece of paper. Then click "Patch". When it's done click "OK" and you're all done.

I'm not sure about the DMS3 but I have a Magic 3.1 and it worked fine. I think DMS3 will work but dont take my word for it.

I did this, but the backup has a different disc ID than the original when I use the utility that was burned onto cd-r. Is it supposed to be like this, or am i doing something wrong? I used Nero to burn the game, if that helps. Thanks in advance for the help.

Yes sir. The Disc ID, correct? Not any of the other IDs? I did it three times, but still the same results. If I run the patch program and check the file after I patched it, it gives the original ID - yet if I burn the image and check it on the PS2 via the program, it gives a totally different ID. Any ideas? I'll give the step-by-step that I did just in case I missed something stupid.

1) made an image of the original using disc decrypter
2) checked the original game ID using the original dvd in the PS2 with the ID checking utility
3) applied said number to the image via the patching utility
4) burned the image (I used Nero and Disc Decrypter to burn two seperate times, but still got the same result).
5) inserted the burned disc in the PS2 with the disc ID utility loaded. Got completely different IDs than the original.

It's really confusing me because, as I said above, if I run the patcher again (post-patch), it gives me the disc ID that I entered. Yet when I burn, it's something totally different. I'm not sure if I'm missing some small, obvious step somewhere.

if you use the backup to get the disc id, it will giv u an invalid id. get the disc id from the original game. if you dont hav the original game , which you should, you can try to use the id list from some sites.

I have been using the original to get the Disc ID. After I burn and put in the burned copy, I then check it with the "DNAS h4x0r" program (the disc ID check utility that is burned on a CD-R). The Disc ID is different on the burned copy, but the Model ID and the GU ID are the same. Is it supposed to copy the Disc ID as well, or just the Model ID and the GU ID?

stunn611 and sly_61019, I'd like to thank the both of you for your help thus far.

Thanks you guys. I really appreciate it. You answered my questions quickly, and somehow refrained from calling me a "n00b." I plan on lurking around the message boards more frequently now. If you need anything at all, feel free to PM me and I'll see if I can help you.

Send me a PM and I'll try to help you. Do you use AIM/MSN? If so, mention that in your PM to me. I just don't want to clog up this thread more than I have already by a back-and-forth messagefest trying to figure out your problem.

i downloaded the dnas disc utility thing and burned it onto a cd-r. Then i started my swap magic cd version 2.0 and then i inserted the disc utility cd-r, then the screen just turned black. I used Nero to burn it if that helps. I am trying to play a back-up of socom 2 online. I would also like help using the snes station if any1 knows anything about that it would be helpful.

Ok I know i did everything correct because the instructions are not that difficult to follow. I burned the disc utility onto a dvd ..the dvd version .. and made my image of the orginal game...got the disc id from the ps2 dvd disc utility... and patched it and i still get that error ..-402.. Are these programs supposed to work with all online ps2 games or are there limitaions on certain games. SLUGFEST:LOADED
