I would like to know if there is a way to play media files on my pc through my ps3 using a psp as a remote. or do i have to copy the media files to my ps3? my goal is to be in another room and use the psp to play music over my home entertainment system. a cheap alternitve to sonos.

Yes you can, remote play through psp and set audio output on the psp to ps3, this way you control ps3 and have sound through your HES.
