I just got an untouched game ISO and want to patch it. There are 2 partitions, update and data. I patched the main.dol int he data partition. WHat do I do with the update? Do I delete it or just leave it as is before burning it. Im on a 3.4U softmodded with with neogamma and cios38rev14.

I have the actual game and ran it through NeoGamma, it bypassed the update so I think it is ok for you to leave updates on backups.

...So long as you use NeoGamma

Hope this helps.

Hi Guys

I Dumped an "straight" ISO of NSMB last night. My WII was modded around Xmas time with a drivekey and their site has a notice that any drivekeys shipped after Oct? would have updated firmware to deal with the new issues.

Unfortunately when I inserted the disc the channel appeared ok but when I selected the game the splash screen appeared but then the system reverted back to the home channel menu shortly after selecting start.

I'm not sure what firmware the WII is running on *( not sure where to check this) but I see that the drivekey is running on V1.0.

Do I have to patch the fresh ISO and as I'm not too familiar with everything yet how do I go about it if I do?

Thank's

Hi, to check your wii firmware version go to your home menu, then the wii circle in the bottom left corner (also called wii options) then "Wii Settings" and your firmware is in the top left corner. e.g. I am on 4.2E.

I can't help you from there though, I have softmodded not chipped so I think the procedures are a little different, hope it all works out though.

If you have a hardmodded wii and no homebrew then you can allow updates from game disks with no problems ONLY so long as the games are from the same region as your wii.

If you're softmodded then all game disks should be blocked automatically, regardless of how it is you are booting the games (neogamma, usb loader, exc)

Bear in mind though that some games NEED these updates to run. 4.0 and 4.1 seem pretty consistently able to run newer games, but earlier firmwares may have problems. I would recommend either using the 4.1 updater homebrew app to update the wii to 4.1, or using a standard system update to take it to 4.2 and then reapplying your softmod.
