I have an 80 GB model CECHE01 that will not come up to the XMB. It just gives me the waving lines with the lighted dots in the bakground, and eventually they lag up to moving almost a frame every 3 seconds. I was playing MW2 last night and the game began to follow the same movement pattern, a frame per 3 sec. I have brought the system to safe mode with no issues, and tried restoring the PS3. That worked the first time but when I went to place a game in the system froze again. Now when I try the restore system, it resets the default settings, beeps once and goes to a red lashing light. I have never gotten a yellow flashing light, just to be clear. When I restore the file system, it tells me there are corrupt files, goes through 100% on the progress bar, and then gives me the same freezig frame pattern. I cant rebuild the database as the harddrive is somehow inaccessable since the first time I tried it. Sony is willing to trade my console in for $150, but I wanted to see if this problem was a hardware problem or the harddrive was just done. I also noticed that the yellowish-orange light indicating the harddrive is on, located on the front of the system, stays solid during start up. I know the system does not boot from the harddrive, and I dont want to take the HD out if it will void the deal with sony. Any help on this will be greatly appreciated, and I am waiting till monday until I send the system off to sony. Also, the system will not recognize a flash drive with the 3.15 update, wich was already installed on the system, when I boot it into safe mode.thanks for any help that you all can give me and I appreciate it.
That did happen to me with my 60gig model, had 2 years extended warranty so sent it off to TCR, in the description the failure was down to the power supply unit, so if could be the same for yourself.
