Okay, so I have an xbox 360 that has rrod. The warranty has passed so I am trying to do anything possible to fix it.

So far I have tried the towel trick (which worked for about a day)

I then saw there was an x - clamp fix, but when i opened up my xbox i found that there were no x clamps there ( i bought this console off of ebay so i am assuming the previous owner removed them to try and fix the rrod problem).

And lastly i tried the "penny fix" which did abso nothing.

I have completly run out of ideas on how to fix my console. Are there any other tutorials on fixing the rrod?

I am not exactly the best with electronics but i would atleast like to try and fix it myself. I just need a little guidance.

Thanks very much.

The towel trick often destroys delicate components, it may not be possible to fix it now. Your best option would be to send it to a professional to get a reflow done. This re-melts the solder on the motherboard (cracked solder is the major cause for rrod). A reflow costs about $35-$50 and is usually a permanent fix (most people will give you a warranty to ensure this). Or if you want to do it yourself there is a ghetto method called the heat gun method. Here's a good tutorial for it, I wouldn't recommend it if you aren't technically proficient though.

so you're saying they already tried doing that repair? since you said there arent any xclamps under the mobo?...if so maybe it needs thermal paste reapplied and to be tightened possibly?...i followed the tut i just linked and it works great for about 4 months now if all else fails ppl will just tell you to get a reflow on your board ...the xclamp fix i got off ebay for 5 bucks
