backup games saying 'play dvd' iso activation disc not working

Hi i have recently backed up 2 games, assasins creed 2 and lips for my wife, but both are saying 'play dvd' when i insert them, all my other games (terminator salvation,ufc undisputed,smackdown vs raw 2010 and more) are all playing fine its just the last two i have burned, i have used the same method as before using imgburn at 2x speed, not sure on the firmware that has been installed on it but was only done a few months ago, i tried the iso activation method but nothin happens
any help would be greatly appreciated

Have you checked your layerbreak setting? Do you run your backups through AGBX before you burn? (This should add .DVD laybreak file for you).

thanks for your response, not sure what you mean by layer break? i have used the same method on all my games and was just the last 2 (assasins creed 2, lips) that have not worked, all games i use have 2 files .iso and .dvd, imgburn always uses the .dvd file automatically

Open your .DVD file with notepad, paste on here what it says.

Thats fine, your layerbreak is OK
How do you backup your games?
It is more than likely your firmware is old. You may not be able to use the activate disk on older firmware.

It sounds like you may be using old firmware then. You might have to upgrade your current firmware on your drive. I belive last may, the latest was 1.41, so you will need to go to 1.61 (or 1.51 for hitachi).

If it was end of may last year chances are it's 1.6 cos that was released 15 may 2009, so the activate.iso should work for assassins creed 2, did you burn the activate iso properly?
Or the person who flashed it for you had put 1.51 on the xbox, if he did it won't boot wave 4 games and the activate.iso won't work, is it lips number one hits? if it is then thats wave 4 along with assassins creed 2.

Nice one for clarifing that. Last may was when I started getting in to my xbox flashing, I had an Hitachi then so I though 1.4(1) was latest. I stand corrected :D

i couldn't remeber what firmware i was on back then, it was doing my head in so i had to check lol

how easy is it to update the firmware?? and which do i need, (1.6 or 1.61)
i burned the iso activator on a dvd dl disc but used just the first layer, i have seen 2 methods of using that and tried both, fist says to put in xbox and it will say play dvd, eject and replace with your game, the other method said to press A when iso act. disc was in and it comes up with message saying 'to play insert into an xbox360'

I thought Ill just use this thread instead of creating a new one. I have the same problem, I do not know what drive my 360 has but it most likely has 1.51 FW. Every game so far, about 10 of them, have worked perfectly(and still do), but now Dark Void and HAWX are not showing up as games but instead this "play DVD". Both should be wave 3, definetly HAWX. I have been using IMGBURN to burn at 4x with manually set layerbreak.
Could the problem be that ABX fails stealh check on HAWX and Dark Void is not yet in their database?(shows up as yellow text)? Is there a way to manually stealth patch these games if that is causing the problem?

iextreme 1.51 should run most games and defo runs wave 3 games which HAWX defo is. Its unlikley to be that they are not properly steathed. Rather than us guess what the problem is, then you attempt to fix it with out best guess, I would highly encourage you to dump your drives firmware.
End of the day, you could spend hours trying to patch a game when it could be a bad ISO.

I admit that HAWX might be a bad iso, but I doubt Dark Void is considering how I aquired it. Even if it would be wave 4, I have managed to play other wave 4 games by patching them to wave 3. The program I use to patch said the game is Wave 3, but after it did not play I patched it and tried again but it did not work.
I would rather not mess with the insides of the box, I have a fear I will mess something up and brake it.

I tried some patching last year, sometimes it worked, sometime it didnt. Thats just my experience, you might be doing it a diffent way which works 100% of the time.
Best thing to do is try the burned game on someone elses modded xbox (which has recent firmware installed) so you know if the rip is good.
