Undo Mod Chips?

Quite some time ago my buddies and I installed mod chips. Can you simply remove them? Will the system act as if they were never there? I am not into the Homebrew thing, and all store bought games want the new firmware installed and I don't want to brick the system...Any help would be appreciated.

Yes, you can just take the chip out and the wii will function like it never existed.

It's totally unnecessary though. No firmware updates can detect or do anything at all to a modchip or a chipped console. You can update without fear of bricking.
