hi i have a wii 3.4e and i have read a few forum post on various sites some say update to 4.o first some say update to 4.1 some say just go ahead and flash

can someone please point me in the right direction please on what route to take

You can softmod with any firmware out there.

There really is no advantage staying at a lower firmware.

So either stay at the firmware your at or update to 4.0/4.1 firmware and use the 4.1 Firmware and below softmod guide in my sig (4.0 and above will let you have 32GB SD card and will let you load VC/WiiWare games off SD card).

Or you can update to 4.2 firmware and use the 4.2 firmware softmod guide in my sig.

just followed the guide in your sig

i managed to get homebrew channel on but havin problems downgradeing the ios files

Having a problem downgrading IOS doesn't give much info.

Just follow the guide. If you follow it word for word then you shouldn't have a problem.

have followed it word for word

this is what i get

i choose ios15(also tried leaving as default) at the top and press b
i then press 1
i then choose downgrade ios15
load from sd card and i get the following
checking title and revision....
loading contents...done
reading file into memory complete
decypting ios
checking hashes
wrong hashes for content 2
could not open file:sd:/ios15-64-v266.wad.out.wad
wrror reading ios into memory
downgrade failed
press any button to exit

where have i gone wrong

You need to press B when downgrading IOS15. You may need to try using a diffrent SD card. Also you might want to try redownloading the WAD files using NUS.

What firmware did you decied to use?

Did you stay at 3.4 or did you update to 4.0, 4.1, 4.2?

i stayed on 3.4e

i used nus for generate the wads

and the sd card is fin as i use it in my sons 3.2wii (i formated this before i started)

will give it another try

The SD card might work perfectly fine using it for official Wii stuff. But it could have issues when it comes to running softmod stuff.

If you still have problems after trying it again then try another SD card.

Try redownloading the WAD files using NUS again (if you didn't follow my advice in the last post). Sometimes they may not download properly.

Make sure the SD card is formated FAT32.

tried it again still the same error

the card i am using i used to softmod my sons wii only other card i got is a 4gig micro sd with adapter

just re downloading the wad files now usin nus

I can't magically make it work for you. I can only give you suggestions.

If your doing it properly then it should work.

If you claim you did it properly then all I can say is...

you need a different SD Card.

Redownload the WAD files again.

Make sure it is formated to FAT32.

i have just got the wad files again from nus

all went well then i notice screen is upside down

dont want to continue any further with the guide where do i go from here


all sorted i continued with the guide installed r7 then just reinstalled hbc and screen is fine now
