I am giving up on trying to make win7 x64 recognize my drive and I am going back to windows xp. What is a good SATA card that I could buy. Maybe one from best buy or something. Any ideas?

As chris4160 says, make sure you get one with the Via 6421a chipset and you should be fine. They are only about $10 - £15 USD to buy.

I got mine from amazon.com. Basic VIA 6421A from a seller called geek..something. It was like $8.99 + $5.00 shipping. I'm having problems with the card and my xp though.

The exact reason why I got this is to stop my pc from freezing...Lets just say I had no luck.

Mine has 3 SATA ports (though only the 2 internal actually work for flashing drives for some reason). One thing is that I cannot actually see anywhere on your link that its a VIA 6421a chipset on that card.

Kitty09, if you still have windows 7 installed there's a new jungleflasher 1.70 that was released yesterday that works well with windows 7. Try that one out first as a lot of people experienced problems detecting their drives.

I would also try swapping the SATA connectors on your mainboard a few times as I have had luck detecting my drives in the past when I went through the same thing running XP...even when the connectors ended up in the same positions as I originally had them. Also make sure legacy is checked in Bios.

Hope that helps.

I am still having trouble man. Win7 just doesnt recognize the drive. This is the first time I have ever tried to flash an xbox, so i am using a 360 that works but has no picture. I can hear everything but there just isnt any picture. Could this have something to do with win7 not being able to recognize it? I dont want to try it on my good 360 until I absolutly know how to do everything.

Ok, maybe we jumped the gun a bit as we don't know enough about your setup. It sounds like you may be trying to flash a Hitachi.

1. What model drive are you flashing?
2. Is it stock or has it been flashed before?
3. Have you tried temporarily disconnecting all unnecessary IDE and Sata drives to minimize hardware conflicts?
4. Did you put all the correct firmware in the firmware folder in your jungleflasher program directory?

Things you should know:

Only Lite-On drives are capable of being flashed with iextreme Lite Touch for the moment. All other firmwares and drives are capable of being detected by Microsoft! If you do have a Lite-On drive make sure all your rips are ABGX verified, with split vid, and contain SSv2...as all other backups are potentially unsafe.

If you're green in all of this the ultimate Sticky at the top of the 360 discussion forum has EVERYTHING you need to know about modding 360s. Make sure you read through it as it will answer a lot of your questions.
Also, follow the jungleflasher.pdf tutorial for your specific drive.

1) It is a hitachi - LG model: GDR - 3120L 0059DJ
2) Its stock
3) I did noit disconnect other drives.
4) I downloaded this - Hitachi_iXtreme_v1.51 - I dragged and dropped this - ix151-59.bin - to the firmware folder in the jungleflasher folder.
Do I have to drag and drop every file from the ixtreme firmware that i downloaded? Also after sending it to mode b, i tried dumping in "mode select" and it said configure upload failed. Then i tried flashing the drive in "ram upload" but my pc completely froze. I had to disconnect my pc. Any ideas?

It sounds like you may have conflicting hardware and Hitachis are notorious for being picky with computer setups when flashing. Don't worry, you'll get there.

Isolate your problems, start by temporarily disconnecting all other drives from the mainboard and leave only what is required to run the PC with the Hitachi drive connected.

CHECK LIST

**"JungleFlasher Firmware Pack (vital for Hitachi Drives)
Download the latest iXtreme firmwares from xbins ? place all the .bin files into the firmware folder that is inside the JungleFlasher folder!"
**refer to page 140 and 141 for additional setup instructions for jungleflasher to work correctly on windows 7

I ran into this several times with my setup (with hitachi drives) and I had swap SATA connectors a few times for ine to work...and a thing that helped me out with the Hitachi was using the alternative flashing method in jungleflasher.

"All drives should be updated to Lite Touch + (LT+) firmware if playing on XBOX live. Samsung drives and pre-78/79 Hitachi drives do not utilize AP 2.5. All other drives are considered to be detectable by Microsoft (YMMV). Make sure all rips are ABGX verified, contain SSv2, and patched AP2.5 (where needed). XGD3 must currently be burned on new drive with PC Burner Max firmware for 100% rip. All modded consoles can be potentially unsafe for use on XBOX live."

My tachi wouldnt get recognized no matter how good my setup was untill I pluged it into SATA 1 slot on my mother board. Now hitachis are all I've been flashing and spoofing :)
