Ok so from what i can tell if you have an older IX on your system that has never been online and you put the stock bin back onto and then upgrade you should get flaged am i correct (In theory). So i was wondering. i have 4 stock consoles. 2 of them are fully up to date. I want to put on 1.61 on my benq drive just until there is a release of teh lt for benq. And this system will be OFFLINE the entire time until there is a release. Now, If i put the stock .bin back onto the drive then put LT on it, will it cause any problems with flaggin from MS when i go online? Will they be able to find out that i had diffrent stuff on there? (Think of it as a Lite-on XD) My nephew wants his done so i was going to do this for him so he can play his games but i don't want to try until i am pretty sure that there isn't going to be a problem.

This was probably already explained but i would like to make sure i read everything correctly. I rip games using the hot swap method, from what i understand this doesnt rip the ssv2 with the iso, correct? Im also curious as to what splitvid is exactly and how to use it. A link to another thread would be fine for the splitvid question. Also if i need to rip using the 0800 method i would like to know what i need to do in order to rip using this method.

Thanks.

Correct. wxripper/hot swap does not get any stealth info what so ever.

If you put an Xbox 360 disc in a normal DVD video player you will see a screen that says, "To play this disc, put it in an Xbox 360 console." This happens because there's a DVD video partition on the disc which is split over both layers on original discs. On normal backups the video partition is all on layer 0, and hacked firmwares are supposed to redirect reads to the layer 1 video back to layer 0. However, it was discovered that some hacked firmware versions prior to the release of iXtreme were not doing this properly, and if the Xbox 360 host tried to read the entire video partition, the second part of it would be blank because the firmware started reading from layer 1 instead of continuing to read from layer 0 like it was supposed to. One solution to this problem was called SplitVid, and it works by appending the layer 1 video to the end of an iso (padded up to the proper position based on PFI) so that when these buggy firmwares start reading from layer 1 they will actually read the layer 1 video instead of blank data. The better solution is to simply upgrade your firmware to the latest iXtreme version because these old firmwares have even more security holes, even if you have a perfectly stealthed disc. iXtreme versions prior to v1.4 also have a bug in disc jitter (see 'Is there such a thing as a "bad kreon rip"?' for more on this). If you still want to add SplitVid (or even if you want to remove it) you can select your preference in the Misc tab. The default behavior is to not check for it and just leave it the way it is, because if you're using iXtreme firmware it doesn't matter if a backup has SplitVid or not; data past the game partition will not be readable by the Xbox 360 host. ***

Purchase a XBOX 360 drive (BenQ, Samsung, or LiteOn) and flash it with iX 1.6 0800 firmware.

*** The info about SplitVid was wrote when iXtreme 1.x firmware was used. SplitVid is now a requirement for iXtreme LT firmware.

In theory you shouldn't be flagged.

It is not known what the 360 does offline, but I can attest to this. I had an offline console, modded and played modded ISOs on it. After the ban wave I flashed stock firmware back to the drive. Been fine online since.

That procedure is what is recommended at the moment. Only time will tell. But for right now, it is suggested to go online with stock firmware to update and then flash to iX LT.

It is hard to say at this point. Remember, this is Microsoft we are talking about. The 360 is their baby...

And as always, when running modified firmware, all risks are assumed.

I just ran modern warfare 2 through abgx, it was a rip using the hot swap method, under the checking ss in abgx the ss version that comes up is 2 <trusted>. It's still safer using the 0800 method though, right?

Who ever uploaded the stealth data uploaded a SSv2 SS.bin.

With using the hotswap method, you are relying on the database to patch the stealth for you. Honestly, if you are playing online, I wouldn't take the risk of letting the database to patch for you. Ripping your games with iX 1.6 0800, you can guarantee your data is good because you just ripped it.

So i guess after a little less then a week, LT is so far so good when it comes to keeping modded consoles from being detected and banned

Can't really say that they are or aren't detected as only Microsoft knows that info.

Any chance of a new guide to show how to backup off 0800 drive & patching correctly, most I found were not that great. Unless you know of a good one, please point the direction.

I hear what you're saying. Worst case scenario, MS can detect LT and they are just flagging right now and waiting to ban console when 1. they have a large amount of console flagged to really slam the ban hammer or 2. They are waiting till a high profile game (Halo Reach) is about to be released.

the bad news is that when they do start banning again there will be a million people claiming Lt got them banned when they were online with 1.61 but they wont mention that

Couple of things from me... If I'm being dumb at any point, just tell me to naff off :P

Got 1.6 on my Liteon atm, obv using activate.iso for wave4 games.

What's the worst that'll happen if I don't update to LT??
I thought 1.6 was perfectly fine, but reading through these pages, a lot of people seem to be insisting we update NOW, NOW, NOW!!!

Reason I'm asking is I've checked through a few games and a fair few of them don't have SplitVid or aren't SS v2. So, with that in mind...

What would happen if I play a game that doesn't have splitvid on LT? And for re-patching for splitvid, in abgx am I going to the Misc tab and changing the drop-down to "add it if it doesn't exist or isn't valid" ? (sorry if that's an obvious one but thought I'd ask)

Re SS v2 - Checked a couple of newer games that are showing as SS v1 in ABGX. Would ppl recommend I waited until abgx could patch to SS v2 or isn't it that important?

Thanks in advance for any replies :)

@rcdicky - It depends if you're playing online or offline, or more accurately, if you ever connect your console up to Live or not. If you don't, you don't need to use Lite Touch, although it would be worth upgrading to it anyway just so you don't have to keep using the activate.iso disc (or use another non-stealth firmware as LT is relatively untested by the masses at this point).

If you're playing online, you should absolutely upgrade and make sure that all of your backups are spot on, which means all must have split-vid (which you can add in abgx360 using the method you described, but not for wave 5 or 6 games yet) and all wave 3 and above games should contain SS V2, not SS V1.

EDIT - BTW, there is no guarantee that you won't get banned if you upgrade to LT as it's a bit of an unknown factor at the moment, but if you're playing online using modified firmware, it is the only choice as we know for sure that iXtreme 1.X is not safe.

If you are playing on Live, you are in for a definite BAN. iX LT doesn't care what wave the game is so you don't have to use the activate disc anymore.

You'll need SplitVid on all games and any wave 3 games and higher will need SSv2.

The game won't play on iX LT without SplitVid.

It is important, but let's hope the data base gets updated with SSv2.

Have you actually tested that, leerage? There are people on Xbox-Scene saying that it boots games whether they have split-vid or not. I assumed that c4e said "split-vid is required" in terms of it's required to be safe, not required just for games to boot.

Heh :) Actually I haven't and I had a feeling this was going to come back on me. I don't have a LiteOn to test with iX LT nor do I have a backup without SplitVid. But if people on XS are saying that, it is enough evidence for me. Thanks funksoulb :)

I just flashed my xbox 360 drive with 0800 firmware and ripped the game i needed to rip. I ran the game through abgx once, the ss version said it was 2<trusted> and it failed verification but it had the ssv 2 which was what i posted about before. I ran the game through abgx again and instead of the ss version saying 2 <trusted> it said 1. what can cause this and is there any way to fix it? the game i ripped was Dragon Age Origins.
Any help will do as im tryin to get my games ready and stealthed before the LT firmware for the BenQ drive is released.

Ah ok. To be honest, I've got 2 360's and I've only ever flashed them from stock to ixtreme 1.6.

So, guessing once drive is in vendor mode, Jungle Flasher will get everything it needs (Key etc) from the drive as it is, I then patch that info onto the stock FW and write the stock to drive?

Then do the upgrade from 'stock' to LT?
