hey everyone. im a noob to this flashing drive stuff, i have my 360 open and apart, i have the lite-on dg-16d2s drive with the 83850 firmware and a0a2 hardware, i just got this xbox as my old flashed one was old as dirt and died and i didnt flash that, it has the toshiba drive in it.
so anyway i plugged my toshiba drive in the new 360- needless to say it dont work reads everythign as a dvd and when i hit play it says put it in a 360 console...not unexpected after reading so many posts but still dissappointing.
anyways so now im going to try to learn how to flash this new drive, i dont have the first clue where to begin even after reading everyones posts. honestly i dont even know if i have everythign i need i just downloaded jungle flasher 0.1.70 beta i havent even installed it yet, my main this is what hardware do i need to flash this drive and then what do i do. is there anything special?

as i said im new to this, i can build and repair cars and computers but this mind boggles me because the drive has a sata port and a pinned plug port...confusing to my little mind...

so im asking anyone who knows how to do this with my drive and what i need please let me know. i ahve almost 100 games that i cant play because my old modded one burned out on me so please someone help me!!!
ill check this thread daily but you can e-mail me direct at remofzero@yahoo.com if you can truly help me one on one. thanks alot guys and gals!!!

A good place to start would be knowing what you have and where you wanna be. You know what you have and you obviously are no stranger to playing backups. So there is a good start. Next you need to select how you wanna flash. you can flash with DOSFLASH but i prefer the point and click method although it may be buggier. I use JF and havent had any problems that I couldnt fix but mostly were due to my error.

Now that you have jungle flasher, newest version is a MUST, you must setup your drivers and configure Port I/O so it may talk to your Xbox360.

After that you must get the firmware you want to use and flash. Get the new Lite Touch because it was just released for your drive today and your lucky. LoL anyways lite-on tend to be more involved. not necessarily harder, just more steps thats all.

After that your pretty much done but you need to make sure 100% your backups you are burning pass ABGX (also newest version is a must) and are SS v2 and patched with SplitVid (with is an option in ABGX so turn that ON).

Then back to gaming!

Here is a link that you should go to and download the .PDF and read for a few hours and just familiarize yourself with. dive in and try it right off the bat. Pretend like you are modding a box and try to physically go through the steps before you pull the trigger.

You also need to decipher is you have the first version Liteon 83850 or the second version. The second version is usually manufactured after August of 2009. If this is the case, then you will have to do a bit of soldering and splicing. As a fore mentioned, check the ultimate sticky at the top of the 360 discussion page...it has ALL you need to know from beginning to end.

If you look at the drive from the back then the power is the left and the sata is the right.

You can power the drive with your 360 (not recommended). Alternatively, you could buy a connectivity kit that is designed just for powering a 360 drive.

Yes, if you hook up the "pinned cable" to your 360 to power the drive, it will work. The best advice I can give you is to use your old broken 360 to power the drive, and of course hook the sata cable to your computer. Make sure you have A/V cables plugged in to the back of your 360 while reading/flashing (turns off if not after a few minutes). The other end of cables don't have to be hooked in to a tv.

I dont think it matters how you power it to be honest with you. I just used my own 360 to power it so.

All you need to know with this drive is to extract the dummy then spoof it. Follow the jungle flasher guide and you will be ok.

ok guys major problem. the drive out of my old xbox i plugged into my sata and the xbox just to make sure my computer recognized it and it came up just fine as the ts-h943 by toshiba- mind you this is the drive out of the xbox i have with a bad board -nothing wrong with the drive its flashed already - so i plugged in my new lite-on drive and when it goes to read the sata port i get about 25 question mark and exclimation marks ( ?!?!?!?!?!?! like that) then a bunch of numbers and "umnd" with a number after it - and every time it changes it will be number 5 one boot then 9 then 3 then 7 - and it locks my computer up right there

but then i put the other drive on the toshiba and it reads perfect....whats going on to where my computer wont see it as a real drive or what ever its doing because i cant even get into windows unless i boot it with out the lite-on drive or with the toshiba drive.

my other question is when i plug this toshiba drive in the new machine (it is an arcade with the mem card built in and i have a hd) it will open and shut fine- it spins fine- but when i put a game in it all it says is put this disc in a xbox 360 console in order to read it basically. i had no issues with this drive and i see its not a plug and play thing ----or is there a way to just skip flashing the new drive and use my toshiba drive? because i dont know why in all reality the lite-on drive wont read when the toshiba does fine....

if anyone can help with this big problem... id reallly be appreciative as i said above i have almost 100 games that are back ups that i cant use now and its annoying...i was in the middle of monsters vs aliens and im having withdrawls lmao thanks guys

You really need to read the jungleflasher tutorial. The reason that your hitachi won't work on the new console is because the motherboard and the dvd-rom don't have a matching key. Every 360 has it's own unique key that the motherboard and dvd-drive share. If they don't match, you get a screen that says, "insert this disc into an xbox360 console", hence the reason that the lite-on must be flashed in order for you to be able to play backups. It might seem overwhelming at first, but knowledge is power. Also, read about portio32. It will probably solve your problems with your computer freezing while the lite-on is hooked up.
