You'll need to get a hold of a SSv2 SS.bin. You can get one by dumping the SS of game with a 0800. Once you have got the SS.bin you can patch with ABGX.

Really, did not know this. I was under the same impression as infam0us, I though it was only newer titles that had SSv2.

I concur as that's what I've both read and experienced. My Benq finds SSv2 on all games regardless of age.

Nice one, thats actually good news. It means I dont have to redownload my games. I can just make rip them and change all to SSv2.

Will the SS be unique to every game?
For example I have FIFA 10 that I want to upgrade to SSv2, can I use ANY SSv2 SS bin?

Yeah, I'm pretty sure you will have to have a SSv2 SS.bin from a FIFA 10 game.

So wait, i'm trying to understand here. I can pull the SS over and game and use that file to patch all my existing games? Is the SS not paired with the game or are they all the same.?

Thanks for that leerage. I was hoping we'd just be able to patch SSv2 bin from games that have it. Pretty much everything out there pre 2009 is SSv1

SS bin files ARE unique to the specific game disc they came from. They contain different responses, angles and IDs.

Here's an example of what happens when you try to inject a SS-BIN file from a Darksiders ISO file into a DJ Hero ISO file.

Note: ALL games ripped with a 0800 will produce SSv2 results regardless of when they were manufactured.
If a 2005 King Kong game disc is ripped with a 0800 drive, it will produce SSv2 results. There are NO Pre-2009 SSv1 game discs.

I should have clearly stated that all scene releases pre-2009 were made with Kreon drives. So as nice as it is having new FW, most of our existing "backups" are useless in terms of going online.

This is true because all pre-2009 SSv1 scene rips will need to be re-ripped with a 0800 drive.

Extracting a SS bin file actually takes no time compared to self-ripping or downloading a 7+ GB file. SS bin files are 2KBs.

However, there may also be the issue of different variations of the same game disc. (Eg. Release Day, Revisions, Greatest Hits & Region-Specific).

Not at all. Backups with SSv1 can be used in banned consoles as there is no more fear of being banned. Secondly, read a few posts above and leerage has told you exactly what to do to correct them. Basically, all SSv1 images must be injected with proper SSv2 info.

What we need now is a kind enough person to take the time to make a good tutorial on injecting SSv2 info to SSv1 images as this no doubt will become a popular topic in the coming days.

"All drives should be updated to Lite Touch + (LT+) firmware if playing on XBOX live. Samsung drives and pre-78/79 Hitachi drives do not utilize AP 2.5. All other drives are considered to be detectable by Microsoft (YMMV). Make sure all rips are ABGX verified, contain SSv2, and patched AP2.5 (where needed). XGD3 must currently be burned on new drive with PC Burner Max firmware for 100% rip. All modded consoles can be potentially unsafe for use on XBOX live."

It definitely is no issue to patch games. But as ebxtreme said, it will be really difficult matching whatever SSv2 bin files hit the net to whatever version of a game you might have (PAL RF, NTSC-U, RF, ect). Even very recent releases are still made on Kreon.

Yes, old rips work just fine on banned machines. But the whole benefit of LT was getting back online. I'm glad that the firmware is as safe as it can be, but at a minimum, it's going to take time and Verbatims to rebuild the library.

Perhaps I'm misunderstanding the situation, but what would be the point of that? This is from abgx360: -

Quote:
SS v2 very simply consists of a duplicate angle value for response types 7 and 5 stored in c4eva's C/R replay table and was added in iXtreme v1.6. Older 0800 ripping firmwares and Kreon's firmware will record the angle just once, which results in SS v1. The problem is that Kreon's firmware does not do an actual measurement to get the angle, but simply uses preset angles that all games currently use and applies a small jitter to them. Storing the angle twice allows us to be fairly certain that this is a real angle measurement made by an actual Xbox 360 drive. If a game was intentionally or accidentally mastered with one or more angles that deviated far from their CCRT targets, it would need to be ripped with a drive that does actual angle measurements in order to mimic the original disc's responses.

This says to me that going back and patching older titles is utterly pointless. It would become an issue if/when the second part that I've highlighted in bold occurs, but even if it does, that won't affect any games that came out earlier.

I believe you use XBOX360 SS Merger, and just load the patch with it. I haven't had to use it yet, since I have just been playing my legit copies of games lately. If there's a better way, someone feel free to chime in..

OK, this is just a shot in the dark BUT has anyone thought of creating a site for uploading/downloading SS bin files? I ask cause you might be one of those guys that backed up your originals and then it got scratched and pee'd on by the kittens... just a thought (It actually happend to me...)

I inject ss files from another game into the .iso (with xbox backup creator).

Then i let abgx search in the database for a new ss, and most of the time it's ssv2, so i can play it on xbox live with ixtreme LT again :)

I'm confused? So you intentionally swap the SS. ABGX freaks out and gives you a new one and patches it for you?

in a short answer, yes. ABGX can patch it if its on the database or manually if you have the actuall files.

Everyone, can anyone upload the following ss bin files: Bayonetta, Borderlands, Fable 2, ODST, Halo Wars, Madden 2010, Marvel UA 2, SAW

...why do I feel like I am starting a new trend of asking for bin files...LOL

EDIT: ABGX Database (for me) reports SSv1 but I know some are SSv2 so that means those that were uploaded to the database used a kreon instead of a 0800.

I'm sure the people uploading info to ABGX are aware of this and it will become the norm to have the SSv2 in it. Well, I guess we can hope.. Maybe ABGX should start requiring it. If they are around to check the safety of rips, ignoring this would make no sense.
