I've successfully flashed my Benq, using jungleflasher and ix1.61.
Now I want to start backing up some games, so from what I've read I have two choices; get the drive into 0800 mode with the activate.iso or flash a 0800 firmware.
I tried the activate.iso, no luck. I burnt the iso according to a guide. I had the computer off and the Benq powered by a blaster CK3. I stuck in the disc, waited 30 seconds, took it out, closed the tray and turned on the PC. The BIOS hung, didn't detect the drive, it didn't show up in windows or jungleflasher.
So, I thought that I'd give it a go flashing the 0800 enabled firmware. I'm totally stuck getting the drive back into vendor mode. I've tried clicking 'intro/device ID' and doing what it says with the on/off trick. it doesn't work. I've tried turning it off and powering back on with the tray half open, doesn't work. I've not actually found a proper, reliable tutorial on how to use a flashed drive to create backups so I don't actually know what to expect by doing these 'tricks'. Also, after I attempt a trick the drive is no longer recognised by jungleflasher. Can anybody help me with either of these? Thankyou.
You cannot use BenQ unlock on flashed drives. Instead of clicking Benq unlock to get the drive in to vendor mode, eject your drive tray and push it back in half way. If it shuts automatically when you power back on, just unplug the drives power cord when it's halfway and replug it back in. Then click Into / Device ID. Your drive will then be in vendor mode.

Is that while the PC is off? Doing that while it's on makes JungleFlasher not see it any more.
I've just done that while the PC is off, again, the BIOS hung. I tried it in a different SATA controller (ICH9, I was previously using a secondary, onboard JMicron in IDE mode) and now it's showing up as a drive in windows! Checked, and I can verify that it's successfully in 0800 mode (thank god). I've ripped a game, verified it and am now playing it, from the backup.
Thing is, what happens when I want to update it to LT or whatever! Is putting the drive into this 0800 mode the same as putting it into vendor mode? I'm guessing JungleFlasher wouldnt work on this sata controller as its enhanced mode only, no IDE mode. The BIOS states this next to every drive.
