i hope someone can explain how to do this. i want i update my xbox360 media player so i can play movies (avi files) off a thumbdrive (usb). heres the problem i want to use a usb to do the update i have the file downloaded and put it on the usb i and it didnt work i formatted it and its on a 32 file system. it seems i have to make it a bootable usb and i have no idea how to make it bootable. i even put it on a cd and try to boot it like that and that didnt work either. ive googled it and watched a few you tube vids, i just cant do it if anybody has a easy way to do this please let me know

is your xbox banned,,why cant you just update it right from live??

My xbox is modded and i havent been banned yet cuz i dont go on xbox live and i didnt want to take a chance on getting banned for this update i know lite-touch has been released but not for my version yet so any help you can give me or at least point in the direction of a easy tut on how to do it that would be great

problem with that is you have to be online to play divx files off your xbox,,they send an encoder to activate the file to play,,if you just want to update your xbox you can off xbox.com,,

coorva thanks again for tryin to help me. I wanted to play avi files and i thought the 360 could do it without being on-line (i am kinda new to this) I did go to xbox.com thats where i got the update for the media file and it had three ways you could do the update... xbox live,usb or cd. i tried making a bootable cd and i think i did that wrong too it didnt work so i was going to try the usb and thats where im at now

Thanks miketrev for your suggestion but im a newbie and i got a ways to go before i can even understand that...ha..ha. I'm gonna go and google to see if my xbox is jtaggable

for you there is no other way right now,,you have to be online to play your files,,
