La société LIBRASOFT a eu l'honneur de faire partie des beta-testeurs de la nouvelle révision de la puce Cygnos v2 qui devrait être disponible à partir de Mi-Février 2010.
Beaucoup de modifications sur cette révision qui s'annonce compatible avec TOUS les types de cartes mères. A savoir toutes les révisions de cartes mères de la Xenon à la Jasper, équipées de tous les types de nands de 16, 256 ou 512 Mo.
Voici une petite photo de comparaison entre une REV.C et cette nouvelle REV.F :
On note une restructuration partielle du PCB de la puce, quelques points positifs et d'autres négatifs.
On apprécie :
- Le nouvel emplacement pour la nand
- Des découpes plus larges, notament au niveau du "L" d'adapter plus facilement la puce sur la carte mère. Selon, la marge acceptable de M$ quant à la position de certains composants, la puce avait du mal à s'intégrer sur la carte mère
- L'ajout d'un quick-solder pour le JTAG sur le J2D2, ainsi il n'est plus utile de tirer des fils jusque sur le dessus de la carte mère pour poser une partie des points JTAG.
- La suppression des points X0 à X7. (Visiblement remplacer par les points A,B,C,D). Pose plus facile.
On regrette :
- L'absence de double-nand. Et oui cette nouvelle révision n'embarquera pas de nand. Une perte ici d'une fonctionnalité importante.
- La disparition des points P0 à P7, ce qui semble indiquer que la fonction de downgrade des Xenon a également disparu
Sinon nous avons pu constater que même pour des prototypes, la qualité de fabriquation est une nouvelle fois au rendez-vous, décidément la team Cygnos fait du bon boulot avec des composants de qualité.
La puce annonce des performances inégalable sur tous les modèles de nand :
- 25s environ pour un dump de nand 16Mo
- 5Min environ pour un dump de nand 256Mo
- 10Min environ pour un dump de nand 512Mo
Même avec un module USB il est impossible d'atteindre cette vitesse. De plus, le dump étant réalisé directement sur la nand, contrairement au module USB ou LPT qui utilise un port de données, le dump et le flash se trouve bien plus fiable et quasiment sans erreurs de lecture/écriture.
De plus, la team Cygnos avec l'aide des travaux de RedLine99 concernant le remapping software des badsblocks sur les dumps de nand, il semblerait que dans très peu de temps, le remapping des badsblocks (Qui est déjà pleinement gérés sur les nand 16Mo) se voit également parfaitement fonctionnel sur l'ensemble de la nand pour les modèles 256 et 512 Mo, contrairement à XBreboot qui aujourd'hui ne le propose que sur les 64 premiers mégas. (Le reste correspondant à la MU de la console).
De plus amples tests seront réalisés probablement ce week-end et vous seront présentés avec des photos de montages et un benchmark du dump et du flash.
Nous avons déjà des Jasper 512 en stock pour ce test, et nous remercions Nuage83 qui doit nous faire parvenir son Arcade 256 pour les tests en 256 évidement.
Nous remercions également toute l'équipe Cygnos qui fait du bon boulot et qui nous a laissé l'honneur de tester leur nouvelle révision de puce en avant-première.
