I wanted to soft mod my sisters wii and I was given this site by a friend:

I clicked the option "ould you like to be able to install games to a USB hard drive and run them from there instead of the disc?"

I haven't actually got it up and running. I got the homebrew channel installed and all that seems fine. I followed the IOS249 install pretty well. I'm using firmware 4.1U. I have USB Loader installed, I'm using my 30GB ipod as the HDD. I reformatted it FAT32 and it says "mounting HDD" then counts up to 30. Then it says = -1 ERROR. Then it asks me to make sure I'm using the USB port closest to the edge of the Wii and I am. I'm stuck here. Any insight?

you will need to put your ipod in the left usb as you look at it from the front and google usbloaderv1.5 you will have to leave your sd card in to use this i had usbloaderv1.4 installed without sd card but wouldn't copy games onto my new 640gb external hard drive here's a better site for softmodding your wii sign up it's free edited by ddp hope this helps

The Ipod more then likely will not be a compatible USB Device.

You could also use the 4.1 softmod guide or update to 4.2 and follow the 4.2 softmod guide in my sig (this will ensure that you have the most stable Homebrew apps and cIOS's available installed).

You can then do the CFG USB Loader guide in my sig.

There is a USB Compatibility list for USB Devices linked in the CFG USB Loader guide.
