my situation benq drive (erased) is no longer detected by my pc (tried 3 pc's) through dosflash or jungleflasher
heres what I have -VIA chipset -benq (currently unrecognizable)
-backup of my original firmware
what I have used -USB loader with dosflash16
-latest jungleflasher
-bootup mod disc for bricked drives
I was trying to update my xbox 360 benq from 1.5 to 1.61 through a VIA chipset, but I made a badflash and in my attempt to reflash it, the drive becomes unrecognizable after i used a dosflash erase command.the drive wont even eject when I press the eject button.
I still have my orig firmware on pc. I written new firmware on the drive before but this time the pc can't detect the drive from dos or jungleflasher. I used jungle flasher and it used to read the drive but now whenever I turn on my benq, the whole pc freezes, the pc won't resume until I turn the drive off.Tried used the latest version of jungle flasher and no difference. tried using dosflash16 through a USB booter and it wont read/write/or erase anymore.. it gets stuck at 0x80 even after powercycling the drive a few times(I tried dosflashing it on 3 diff comps and all stuck at 0x80).
used different SATA cables and used different comps moving the via chipset around.. all same results so the connection isnt the problem.
I read up on another forum thread where it told me to uninstall the via chipset drivers so it wont conflict with jungleflasher.. no luck. the pc still freezes after I turn on the drive, I'm assuming it freezes the comp b/c the comp is trying to install the new drive but failed- so I'm sure the drive can't be fried
I also tried using a mod bootup disc that is supposed to fix bricked drives which I saw from youtube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RUOEue8xk4k).. still no results..
after 10 hours on this, I am out of ideas and out of my mind..
I tried intro before all this happened, and it was fine.. but now when I try intro, it would continue reading, than I turn my drive on and the PC freezes.. I would have to turn off the drive and the pc would resume, no drive detected . outro didnt do me anygood since I can't even keep the drive on
Im having the same problem. I erased the drive and got it into vendor mode. However there was an error when trying to write to the drive.
Now whenever i try powering the drive while connected to my PC, my PC hangs just like the OP.
Any help would be greatly appreciated guys.
Make sure you have the VIA driver removed. It can be found at C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers and it will either be vsmraid.sys or viamraid.sys. Just remove it out to your desktop and then reboot the PC.
That should allow you to Intro the drive. Since the drive has no firmware, it won't be detected in JF. Go ahead and hook it up to the same SATA port you were using. In JF, select the same I/O port that corresponds with the SATA port you are using. Click Intro/ Device ID. Click OK to the prompt and then when you see dots go across on the bottom of the log, disconnect the power plug from the DVD drive for 1 second and then plug it back in. That should Intro the drive and you should get Status 0x73.
I removed the drivers already, when I tried using an intro on jungle flasher, I click ok on the prompt to reset the power in 1 second, and the dots go across.. but when I turn on the drive, the dots freeze, the whole pc freezes actually, i can't even move my mouse.
Could it be that my dvd drive is dead? It doesnt make sense since it would still freeze my pc when it turns on but when i try using dosflash, it wont read/write/erase.. no detection through dos but detection that freezes my pc when I run windows normally?
For those that still have the same problem and come across this. I found out why my drive is in the state it is. I flashed my drive multiple times(about 7 or 8 time due to mistakes). it looks like you can only flash it so many times.
I found this on another website..
"Note: There is a common myth concerning flash BIOS, saying that a chip can only be programmed a certain number of times. This is no longer true. The modern flash bios can be reprogrammed well over 10,000 times."
