Hi there! Well you see i've bought a PS3 Lightning Edition in Japan and I live in Portugal and I will buy a Final Fantasy XIII game here when it comes out. I want to know if you can tell me if PAL games work on japaneses PS3... I bought this PS3 because i truly love Final Fantasy XIII! <3 well I will be waiting for your answers. Thanks a lot!
Region free doesn't mean that a PAL signal will properly display on a NTSC television though. You may be able to load up the game and hear that it's working but the visuals could look like scrambled cable porn.

No, PS3 games are not region locked, i guess the NTSC/PAL logos refer to TV's, if you have a HDTV, or modern TV, you don't have worry about this, but if you have a 10 year old NTSC TV, a PAL game may show up black and white.

or even rolling if it's PAL50 (which most are)
One thing most people don't know is the difference between NTSC-U and NTSC-J .. it's to do with black level.. and in practical application doesn't make any difference.
