Hi Guys, I have an unformated 320gb samsung drive in a icy dock enclosure. I have read several guides for formating. Should I go with the FAT32 Partition (NO WBFS PARTITION NEEDED) or use a wbfs manager program for the whole drive? what are the + and - of diferent formats?

I only want to use the enclosure for usb loader GX. I dont want any other media or programs such as wii geexbox.

Thanks

WBFS = Wii games Only.

FAT32 = Wii games and other Wii applications (Emulators/videos etc. etc.).

So I would suggest FAT32. you can use the guide in my sig to set it up.

get rid of gx and use configurable usb loader instead.
http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=147638

then partition a small FAT32, with the rest as WBFS.

install the configurable usb loader forwarder channel, and place the actual usb loader dol on the FAT32 partition; treat the FAT32 partition like a SD card (all apps must be placed in the APPS folder)

ps2: v7 scph-39001 - independence exploit - hdloader 0.8c - maxtor 300gb hdd
(+[__]%) psp slim ta-085v1: 6.60 PRO B10
wii (powered by bootmii/priiloader): 4.1u - d2x v10beta53-alt (base 56) - configurable usb loader v70r51/devolution r188 - wd scorpio black 7200rpm 320gig w/ ams venus ds2 enclosure

got a whole lot more to list . . .

There is really no reason to have a WBFS partition anymore with the latest configurable usb loader. Just format it FAT32 and convert the ISO files to WBFS files and add them to the FAT32 USB Device.

actually, there is. if you use a FAT32 partition, you must use cios222, so compatability can be an issue. it's not updated as frequently as cios249, which is up to rev17 now.

Never had issues running any of my games.

Is cIOS38_rev17 improved over rev15 and rev16? I know allot where having issues with them.

gbatemp thread says it's the definitive version. i've had no problems with v51 configurable; SSBB works with no problems, PAL NSMBWii had no problems (but being replaced with NTSC soon).

Thanks for the reply guys, you have given me some food for thought. I have looked at both guides of which the configurable usb loader looks pretty good compared to GX. Having access to a separate Fat32 partiton with apps may be handy in the future with a separate WBFS for games.

I believe I could run a complete fat32 drive as I am up to date with cios222 and cIOS38

I think I will study both methods a little further and will let you know my sucess

Thanks

Hi, went for the fat 32 option with forward loader. sucess with no errors or issues. All iso's and games ripped from disk with custom theme. wow excellent program and system for your whole games library!

neo gammer will never be used again!

Thanks everyone for the posts and guides
