Will i need to burn DL or can i just use noremal dvd's?

Only 2 games require DL disks. Smash bros and Metroid prime trilogy. All other games (so far anyway) can be put on standard sized DVDs.

As for the average size of the other games, they range from as low as 90mb to over 4 gigs. You can still only put one on every disk though.

Is the zelda hack still the only way to softmod?

Or is there software similar to Rains MMS for the psp?

Ok, you clearly haven't looked around much. The zelda hack is long dead. It hasn't worked on the last couple firmwares.

To softmod your wii, follow this guide.

It also links to a USB loader guide that will let you play your wii games from a USB hard drive without having to burn them.

Most USB drives will, many flash drives work as well. Seagates seem to have issues for some reason. There is a compatibility list linked to in the USB loader guide.
