so i tired to update my firmware from ix 1.6 to LT and now my drive wont play originals or ripped games. so my question is should i use JF or lite-on erase to delete what ever(possible corrupt) firmware i have since i have all of the original firmware files and do a dos restore or what.

Erase and reflash as long as you have your original key safe somewhere.
