Ok my friend has a 80gb ps3 and i have a 40gb. He doesnt use his and since his can play ps2 games i wanna switch wit him. But he wants to switch hard drives sooooo the question is will it work if we switch and i have my 40 gb hard drive in his ps3? if the question doesnt make sense im sorry

You put any drive of at least 40GB in any PS3. However, you will have to format the drives so both systems will be like new...with nothing on them.

If you want to keep your stuff, you have to backup to a USB drive...and some stuff will not backup to USB.

You could also get another(larger) harddrive...say a 500GB...backup your stuff to USB, install the 500GB in your system, do the system transfer from your friends system to your system, install and format your 40GB in his system, do the system transfer back, then install his 80GB into your system and do one more transfer. Then trade systems, pull the 40GB back out and put in the 500GB...and then restore whatever you were able to backup to usb.
