Hi Guys,

I had the softmoded version 3.3, but my brother seems to have updated the OS via the internet without asking me first. Therefore i am now on 4.2, my previous HomeBrew Channels are still there and things like Neo Gammer etc, but now none of them work and just keep freezing every time i enter the channels or try to launch an app or game.

Can anyone please tell me how to start again from a Clean Slate? I.e. how do i remove all the previous channels and any reference to them on the Wii? I then can start with the 4.2 hack but only after i have everything cleared from the Wii, it was slightly patchy anyway as i was using the Twilight Hack before.

please help me guys....

Thanks Guys...

Hello, I'm in the same pickle. I have updated to 4.2e (live in the uk) but I'm unable to run the 4.2hack as I can't get passed the first stage due to the "no vulnerable ios error" during hackmii installation. I believe this is due to patched IOS's that were installed when I ran cIOSCORPS (pre updating to 4.2e was running ok with cIOSCORPS). I've tried running the cIOSCORPS uninstaller but that just produces a black screen, I've even tried uninstalling IOS's with the anytitledeleter, but I stopped as I've heard that you can brick your wii if you delete IOS's lower than 200.

Anyhelp would be MOST appricated....

thanks in advance

Richie

@Kalpz

What happened to you is that the 4.2 upgrade removed your cIOS patches. There is no need to remove anything, you just need to reinstall them. Follow this guide. You can skip the homebrew channel installation and the neogamma wad installation since you already have them, but you'll need to do pretty much everything else.

@rawalan

Your problem is entirely unrelated. The fix for your problem is here. It is linked to in larry's 4.2 guide but you must have missed it somehow.

So does all this mean that if you have modded a 4.1 wii, and someone accidentally updates it to 4.2, it wont brick?
Your wii will work just fine, although you will have to run most of the softmod process for 4.2 to get all homebrew etc working again?
But it may be possible that future updates will brick a softmodded wii, so if you do softmod, you may have to stay on 4.2 and may not be able to play some games?
I have a wii on 4.1, but its a LEH250+, so I am trying to find out as much info as possibe before modding it in any way.
Cheers

NeoGamma or the USB loader application (which ever one you use) has a #002 fix setting in it you will need to enable before launching the game.

Softmodding has been around for a while now (since 3.2/3.3 firmware). There has never been a Nintendo update that has caused a brick with a softmod (there can be bricks but that is do to user error).

For now all that updates have done is unsoftmodded systems. But of course within a few days after an update comes out their is usually a work around.

When an update comes out the best thing you can do is hold off from updating. Wait until more information comes out about the update and the effect it has on a softmoded system.
