Ok here goes, im a newbie to posting but not to reading these forums. Been a reader for a few years of several different sites. I can usualy read and then apply then get good results without much problems. With my disclaimer stated ill begin.

Please read it all i know its a long description but want to be detailed

I have a launch 60 gb PS3 that the blu ray drive slowly went bad, By slowly i mean that it was intermittent at first then completly stopped working other than the load/eject which never stopped. Just recently i was afforded the opportunity to aquire a 40 gb model that had the ylod problem that i intended to use the blu ray drive to fix my PS3 with. I swapped the drives, not forgeting to keep my board with my system and takeing note that the partnumbers were matching, and nothing happened. Infuriated, because i was told nothing was wrong with the blu ray, i decided to fix the ylod issue then try to resell on craigslist just to get enough money to buy from a reputable online source. i followed a youtube video on how to reflow the cpu and gpu to the tee and without fail. once it was done i tested the system to findout i was sucessful and brought it back to life. Heres where it gets a bit odd. once i started the system i noticed that the drive did its initial spin test, something it should not do if defective. so i decided to play a game in it and much to my surprise it worked! so out of curiosity i swapped it into my ps3 and still a no go. then i put the supposed known bad original drive from my 60gb sys into the 40gb sys and it worked also. once again out of curiosity i decide to do a total swap of the drives with the wrong boards attached. now the drive with the 40gb board attached when installed in the 60gb machine will do the spin test but wont go any further which seems to be correct. i get the same result from the 40gb machine with the 60gb board and drive. so now i have two working bluray drives that work in the 40 but not the 60. i find this abit agrevating becausse ive been sitting on the 60 gb broken for two years not wanting to get rid of it b/c of backward compataility. please realise that i have been reading about the bluray problem for literally years and have never seen anything about this. ive read post after post after post im not a read one post kinda guy. ive read through 70 pages of posts just to find what i need instead of looking like an idiot on the boards before. so my question is if anyone had heard of the reflow fix for the ylod issue fixing the bluray problem at all. i know it sounds real left field but i just need to know some opinions.

Been reading forums forever but never posted.
