Shrink, Win 7, Nero 9 Bckups won't play on standalone player

I use the above including AnyDVD to backup my DVDs. The disc will play fine on the laptop player, but not on either of my standalone DVD players. I get a "no disc found" message. I tried with two different brands of DVD+R discs, same as I have been using before. The only difference I can think of is I upgraded to Win 7 about a month ago. Unfortunately I don't have a Vista machine to double check this. Anyone else seen this issue?

Actually, it turns out I have Nero 7, if that makes any difference.

What brand is your DVD+R disc? The best way to do is booktype them DVD+R to DVD-ROM and hopefully that will solve your problem. I've been booktyping all mine DVD+Rs into DVD-ROM and never had any issue with my backups.

I checked in DVD Shrink under Burn Settings and the box for Book Type DVD-Rom is checked but greyed out, does that mean it is already set to DVD-Rom?
I had an old laptop running Vista and using the same version of Nero and AnyDVD, was able to successfully back up my movie. So it appears it is something to do with Win 7 apparently.

If your DVD burner is capable of "Booktype", then it's best to booktype them DVD+R to DVD-ROM. I noticed that you have AnyDVD and Nero 7, so why don't you just use Nero Recode with AnyDVD instead of DVD Shrink? Nero Recode is much better and faster, plus it's written by the same guy who brought DVD Shrink.
I don't use DVD Shrink anymore, but just look at pictures below for reference. DVD Shrink is an old ripper and also a transcode engine, therefore I now use DVDFab HD Decrypter, DVD-Rebuilder Pro and ImgBurn. Best of luck to your burning journey.

So far from what I've seen Nero 7 is incompatible with Windows 7. If you look at the Nero website, you'll see that they have a brand new Nero 9 Reloaded that is compatible with Windows 7. I've been hearing that people have been able to get Nero to work with Windows 7 but I had the same problem. Nothing would burn once I switched to Windows 7.

Thanks for the advice.
I guess I didn't realize that Nero Recode can take the place of DVD Shrink. Will it handle compression as well so that an entire movie can fit on one disc?

I'd already answered that question above. Yes... Nero Recode can handle the transcoding (shrinking) and it's engine is better and much faster than DVD Shrink.
Note: I said both DVD Shrink and Nero Recode are written by the same person, but Recode is better and faster.

Thanks again.
Unfortunately I got a patent activation failed mesasge from Nero when I tried to use Recode. Apparently I am not allowed to reinstall Nero on a new computer too many times, even though I have paid for the program. Now I have to write to customer service so I can validate my program. I'll give this program a try if I can get it working.

Until you figure out Nero, use DVD Shrink and burn with ImgBurn. If your burner is capable of booktyping,you can do that as well in ImgBurn. When it comes to burning DVDs, your safest choice is ImgBurn.
