I would say if you complete all the steps above and use the book type setting ect.. good media f/w on your dvd writer is upto date if your using 1.61 the lst thing i can think of is your dvd drive is having a problem reading burned media you may need to try this..

boshdirect.com/downloads/.../2-xbox-360-dvd-pot-calibration.html

but this is a last ditch effort and you know the games your burning work on someone else's modded console

I would update the firmware on your dvd writer in your laptop using the prev link here is a link to a related issue with a diff drive and that resolved the same issue on booktype for them(ignore the firmware yours will be diff because your drive is diff.. simply go back to page 1 of this thread and you'll see the link i posted for the firmware.

line 5 of thread where it helped this guy

The other option is to see if the LG or philips burner support site has the booktype utility available it'll save having to flash

Try setting the priority of your IMGBURN settings from, "High" to "Realtime" . Worked for me, mainly because my PC is old img burn needs the extra RAM. Also, dont run any programs in the backround. Just leave your computer to burn.

From the log, it looks like booktype is fine.

There did seem to be a problem with finalizing the track, however.

You may want to try running ImgBurn as Administrator.

It could indeed be an issue of your 360's DVD laser going bad, but I still think the issue is that you are using a laptop burner. They are notorious for having problems burning. Even "good" laptop burners stink. Same goes for most stock external DVD drives, especially the 'slim' ones.

If this is indeed the case, you should get any $30 internal DVD burner for a regular PC and put it into a 5-1/2" external enclosure with a USB port. Better and cheaper than a 'standard' external writer.

$38 on new discs -- Check
$15 on burn after burn that showed as a DVD -- Check
$11 on new laser -- Check
$28 on new multimeter -- Check

I agree that a firmware update would be my best bet, but i can't find it anywhere. windows update thinks im up to date, the LG site doesnt even have the burner.

gixxer- I appreciate it, but the updater file from the Chinese site won't recognize any of my drives..

for anyone reading this with the same problem, i FIXED IT!!! Flash the firmware with version WP03 (assuming your dvd burner drive is the same as mine). Link here:
http://codeguys.rpc1.org/firmwares/lg/dv...SAT20N_WP03.exe

works beautifully in imgburn with both verbatims and amazon basics.
