ive used a lot of games that were pal (by using regionfrii) and i think i semi bricked it by upgrading with super mario galaxy a long time ago
or maybe it was wii sports resort
but nonetheless, i have a modded wii (d2ckey) and i can still play games and stuff but i cant access the settings
this is a huge problem because one i cant change any of the controller optimization stuff (like if the sensor is located aboev or below the tv)
and two cuz i cant access my wifi since i got a new router......

So now im in deep doodoo ):
I have the homebrew channel installed on my wii
Is there a way for me to upgrade to the 4.2U firmware?
If there is, how would i do it?
I searched some stuff obviously before making this post and found a lot of reallllly old topics on how to do it but cant seem to understand them
and i even attempted one but it would run on the homebrew channel
so im just wondering exactly what i have to do to fix my wii
because i dont want to totally brick it ):
Oh and if using the IOS60 and the REV thingy is the only way to do it, can someone take a screenshot of what the SD card folder is supposed to look like at the end of setup?
Thanks a bunch :D

You could try the below steps to get around the semi-brick.

Go to the 4.1 and below firmware softmod guide in my sig.

Follow the below sections first...

SD CARD PREPARATION:

HBC & BOOTMII INSTALL: (Since you already have HBC can skip the HBC install but I would install Bootmii and make a NAND backup before doing the below steps).

DOWNGRADE IOS15:

PATCH IOS36:

RESTORE IOS15:

cIOS38_rev14:

After you do this go to NUS again (like you did in the SD card Preparation) and tick the pack>wad box again but this time go to DATABASE>SYSTEM/SYSTEM MENU> then select the 4.1 firmware of your system region (if you have a USA region then select v449(4.1U)). Then select start NUS download.

After it has downloaded a new folder should have been created. Go to it and drag the IOS WAD file that was created (again if you have a USA region system the WAD file should be named System Menu-NUS-v449.wad) to the WAD folder on the SD card.

Now use WAD manager to install that System WAD File.

So pretty much what your doing is softmodding the system so you can run WAD Manager and install the 4.1 system menu through it to recover from your region brick.

Umm im not sure if i have 4.1 or 4.2, would it be possible for me to check without going into settings? (cuz i cant cuz of the semi brick...)
so like maybe theres something tat was upgraded in 4.2 thats different from 4.1 that i could check for?
I think that in 4.2 the wii shop channel asks you to upgrade it through the settings right?
Im getting that right now
so does that mean i have 4.2?
and if so, will your method above still work?
