i bought a used 360 that had trouble with the benq drive that was in it. I copied the firmware from the broken drive and bought a new benq and went through the motion of writing the old firmware onto the new drive. However, when i try to play discs, i get the "PLAY DVD" message instead.

Anyone got any ideas?

did you try reflashing it again or only the once? sometimes i have a problem when flashing where i have to flash the drive twice to get it to work.

i tried flashing multiple times and to no avail.


when i opened the drive the wires underneath were cut so i reconnected them and tried to see wat was wrong with it. The drive was not staying closed, it kept opening after i pushed it closed and it doesnt close on its own i.e when i press the button. i also tried flashing that one too but it wont stay closed for me to see if the discs work

Sounds like someone flashed the drive wrong or switched the boards in it and your left with a key that doesn't match your motherboard
