Once your drive is flashed with LT - It becomes UNDUMPABLE unless using MRA(or similar) Hack - 7series and 8series v1 method will no longer work --------- save your OFW during flashing process!

What does that mean? If LT2 or any newer firmware comes out will I have any problems once I flash it with LT?

Also how can I check for ssv2?

Guess it would be wise to write down the DVD key and tape it to the DVD drive itself when flashing Lite-Ons with LT.

$38 on new discs -- Check
$15 on burn after burn that showed as a DVD -- Check
$11 on new laser -- Check
$28 on new multimeter -- Check

It just means that when you update from LT to LTxxx, you won't be able to do it by sata cable alone, like you were able to with all other firmwares.

You'll have to do a full dump and either have to use the MRA method or one of the switches/dual probe tools.

So, you're saying I can't drop to DOS and l-o-eras anymore? That's the first I heard of a firmware preventing itself from being erased.

I believe bhe was referring only to dumping the drive -- not flashing it. I'd rather just have the drive key written down somewhere than go through all of that effort for a worthless (other than the key) dump.

Right. We're talking about dumping. Like the op posted, dumping the drive (post LT flash) can only be done via switch/probe or mra hack.

I'd think you'll want to save your entire firmware, not just have the key written down. If you have your o.f., of course.

Yeah, I absolutely agree. I just mean in case of emergency, if you lost the file somehow and needed to update firmware, you could do it without dumping and going through all of that hassle. Purely as a means of backup.
