hello people of afterdawn. after having owned my console for almost 4 years it has finally packed up and gone to RROD stage this last week. it is obviously out of the warranty period and is also flashed so it clearly cannot be sent back to MS for free repair. i do not wish to do the cheap non-permanent x-clamp repair so it will break next month on me again. what i want/think i should do is a reflow to this console to give it the best chance of lasting another year or so. i've looked on here to see if this is what i should be doing, and believe it is, however, i have a hard time finding anything that does this service on here. i can find plenty of people that do other 'services' such as flashing, modding, x-clamp repairs and the like, but everytime i find a thread about doing a legit service such as a reflow, they are also closed and the people that do these legal services are banned. so if anyone is willing to do this, please send me a message or reply on here. oh yea, im also located in the US, so i guess if you dont live here, then dont bother replying.....

right, but from what i could read, none of those people (other than gameover) openly advertised. the others just stated they did them, just like any of the other members state they flashed consoles, ripped games, dled games (all illegal stuff) and didnt get punished).
but back on topic, as long as you do real reflows, with a reflow workstation, obviously you probably do not have the x-ray part as that is mega $$ i might be interested. i just dont want the stupid hot air gun technique done as i could easily do that myself.

well they don't like when people advertising reflow services without paying but you're asking rather than me advertising so I guess it'd be ok to tell you I do reflows. I've also made a tutorial that's helped people on here do their own reflows as well; cheap, easy and effective. Check the link in my sig.

Well he did ask after all I wasnt advertising but if it's not ok i'm sure one of the mods will take it down
As far as a reflow station goes it's basically a hot air gun like mentioned except with fine temperature control. And hell if you use a reflow station and don't replace the x-clamp properly it wont make any difference what you use because the motherboard will flex and break the solder again. I've only had 3 systems fail from heatgun reflow, 2 were previously worked on and 1 was an earlier one that I think I damaged removing the x-clamps (I use a safer, less "brute force" method now ;). The other 50-60 or so have all worked great without a single return

true...just saying though. however, i do agree with the both of you that a reflow is what is needed. that is assuming the error codes point to that instead of something else..

A thread was closed yesterday regarding reflows. It was stated conversations about it (reflow) would 'not be entertained here'.

thats what i saw as well, and made me be hesitant on posting my thread here, but i couldnt figure out what made reflows more evil than asking who flashed consoles in a certain area.

Do a search on craigslist in your area, theres lots of xbox services offered there. Luckily I found someone who lives 15 minutes from me who owns a reflow station.

i've already done a CL search, however the closest one is 2 hours away and its cheaper to ship it and drive 2 hours down and back.

We don't entertain threads asking who flashes consoles for the exact same reason, chancers who only post here to line their own pockets. This site is here to help people who want help, we're not here to profit from said help.
