Can you get banned playing offline backups?

Will MS notice as soon as I go on live? I plan on playing backups offline and then go online when I want to play original games for multiplayer.

This question has been asked very many times in the past, no one knows the exact answer(correct me if I'm wrong as I've been away from the forum for almost a year), but YES its a POSSIBILITY that they can still pickup that your playing backups.

You are NOT wrong. No one knows for sure how M$ do their banning, but the general consensus is that if you play backups (online or offline) you risk getting banned.

If its on the same console (online and offline) the general thought is it doesn't matter. Network cable unplugged or not you run the risk of being banned.


If you have 2 Xbox's one modded(offline) and one untouched(online) and swap the harddrive from one to the other seems to be ok at this moment. But no one can say how long this will work.

I've been doing it for a few months now. I don't think MS is yet able to detect this at all. Wait till you see a giant thread explosion such as October 29th. There will be a great many people complaining about getting banned on their box that never goes online. I can safely say that there is no way ATM that MS can detect this process.
