PS3 to PS3 hard drive swap

I bought a used ps3 with no hard drive, can I take the hard drive out of my other ps3 and use it in the one I just bought? Will it swap back and forth between consoles with no problems?

No I dont think so, yes you can add any 2.5" sata drive to any PS3, as long as it hasnt already been formatted by another PS3. If you add a drive that's being used in one PS3 into another PS3 it will ask you to format it, so you end up losing all your data.

But if you have 2 PS3s you can use the new transfer utility which allows you to transfer all data from one console to another, so you dont lose any of your game saves etc.

You can swap your old one to the new one. As stated, you will lose all information. Back your gamesaves etc? to a flash drive before swapping. If your old one still works, I would buy a new SATA 2.5 hard drive and put in the new one, then do the data move from old PS3 to the new one. If you are wanting to have two PS3?s that have Mirrored HD memory, then no, you are not allowed to do that.
