i purchased a proper licensed version of nero 5, it was working perfectly alright for about 9 months, until my computer developed a complecation with my web-broser freeserve, i deleted nero successfully, but later reinstalled it, where a error acured, therefor disallowing me to burn any type of music cds. I thought i would delete/ reinstall nero 5, but was unable to remove it through add and remove in control panel, it wouldnt allow it to be done. I deleted it through the desktop etc, and it seemed to remove it all. But when i went to reinstall it wouldnt allow me to, eiter off the cd through desktop or even add and remove in control panel. An error accured which said 'you already have a version of nero installed' i have searched the computer and have remove all trance of nero, other than the title nero5 burner in the add and remove list, which i thnk could be the problem. anyone have any ideas on how to remove the add and remove in control panel, for nero 5?

Your Nero original installation wrote some flags in your Registry --> and when you ADD/Removed it , not all flags were taken down -- they have to be removed manually.
Click -- Start -RUN - type regedit -- OK
FIRST -- Click File --select EXPORT -- aim at your desktop , name it My Registry and click Save.
Now -click EDIT -- select Find -- Type Nero -- click Find Next.
Delete any key that will popped up -- clicking Find Next in Edit after each findings till the editor says "" None found "" .
Reboot your PC and install your Nero.
The My Registry file you saved on your Desktop is there to import should you make a mistake and delete something you should have not. -- It can be imported to restore your PC . The Registry is the heart of all the modules used by your programs --- DO BE CAREFUL and ALWAYS make a backup before you do any manual changes to it.

Hi jeanc1,many thanks 4 trying 2 help,but alas tryed you frigs without any success,i did as per your email and edited regestry it found quite a of Nero related flags,which i was quite exited about,as i was feeling confident that the frigs would work,1 thing i was slightly cofused about your email was,your line reference,delete any key that will popped up--.after clicking find,there was 2 windows that come up,the 1 on the left was sort of directories,and the 1 on the right i take it the flags,? in window 2 was a lot of Nero related flags but only 1 highlited,i was unsure if u ment me to delete just the highlighted one or all that was listed in 2nd window,in the end i deleted just the one thet was highlighted,and then went back to the find Nero again until the regestry said none left,i then rebooted and went back to control panel to add/remove,and low and behold the rero burning CD ROM WAS STILL LISTED,so i tryed again,it still came up with the message,WINDOWS INSTALLER,another version of this is already installed installation of this version cannot continue.To configure or remove the existing version of this product.use add/remove program on the control panel. ok im realy miffed now as im reluctant to format the c:drive which would surely sort it,but a bit drastic dont u think,as my daughter has trillions of music files on the drive,did i do as your email said.

There is no 2 windows -- your window is split in 2 --
The left side is the tree representing the register.
on right what is shown is the content of each of the branches of the left hand tree.
As you highlight (One click) an item in the tree..-- the contents will be shown on the right. Some are voluminous.
You delete the key (flag) on the tree. Each time the
The search stops because it has found the word Nero and the contents indicates it implies Nero, you delete the Left hand Flag.--
Now Nero is a product of Ahead , hence you should do a search in the registry for Ahead and delete those flags..-- i suspect that if you do Ahead first-- you will not find any Nero's after cause they will have all been removed.

hi again jeanc1,done the serch in the regestry for ahead,did not find anything,i have a lienced version of rgistry mechanic which i ran to repair or sort the registry,but it found no problems,i also downloaded a demo of PCDOCTOR ON CALL and ran that it came up with 21 problems ,but i have to purchase a key to unlock and sort the problems it found,but after purchaseing registry mechanic which did'nt fix the problemim im a little dubious,if u know what i meen.

I hate to give up doing it the right way on a problem ~~ but but ....
There is a program that i have never used called Add/Remove 4 good.
