so my friend gave me his 360 today saying the dvd drive doesnt work and i bought a new hitachi drive for my old 360 but it ringed out after i got it. Apparently u have to flash ur motherboard to make it work with different dvd drives so i was wondering if anyone had instructions or something cause i cant find crap anywhere in google lol. thx in advance. His dvd drive was a philips lite on drive by the way. I also have the SATA card that allows flashing off the dvd drives and such.

When you say "ringed out" do you mean it Red Ringed? AFAIK, you should be able to boot your xbox with a different drive installed but it wont play games (only DVD's)

To get your new drive to work, you will need to extract the firmware off your old drive. Follow the instructions in the JungleFlasher.pdf file (google it) and it will give you step by step instructions on spoofing your new drive to look like your old one.

sorry lol i got a new xbox 360 from my friend but yah my old one ringed out i swapped the board already from my old hitachi drive from my old 360 to the new one. I want to use my hitachi drive with the new 360 i have my friend gave me cause his liteon drive doesnt read anymore. but i will search that up.:)

well i bought this card from hong kong on ebay and it wont read any drives or anything i dont know if its cause its from china or something but yah its the one everyone uses having no luck with it....i dont got a connectivity kit for my hitachi drive but for the lite on u only need sata and it wont even read so i dont know whats going on. its like the VA6421 card w/e close to the name and its supposed to work got drivers installed and everything it says its read on the computer so i dont know what to do about that. This will be sinchy if i can get the dang card to work.

EDIT: FIgured it out but now i need to know if anyone knows where i can get a connectivity kit that will work with the hitachi drives and lite on drive sincei got the stupid 7485 lite on. Either way i need a connectivity kit that works for both of them. IF i could find one in best buy or something that would be cool but also online i cant seem to find one online that says it works with hitachi though need some help thx. I flashed a Samsung to practice lol

I have found with hitachis, its better to use the on board sata (not the Via 6421a) to extract FW. Then use the Via card to flash the new drive.

oh ok i have an old computer but it does have sata its a dell dimension 8300 so will that work its like 8 years old and its onboard sata i think u mean on the motherboard right? I still need some connectivity thing for the lite on drive cause its the main drive on this 360 and doesnt read anymore im trying to change it over to my hitachi thats brand new.
