I tried to flash my lite on 74850c last night and did everything correctly up until the erase part. I believe the drive erase but i cannot get JF to see the drive. I have read about dosflash as a possible solution, but im not too sure. Any ideas on what to do? The drive wont eject or anything. Thanks guys
At this point, I would highly recommend ya use the dos method. You need Lite-On-Erase and Dosflash. I use Dosflash v1.8.
Use JF to create the custom firmware and then save it.
Make note of which port your 360 drive is on, mine is B480 for example. If you don't know which port and JF isn't working than Dosflash can tell you. Make a usb boot drive. I would recommend that you disconnect everything except the 360 drive so you will have no confusion.
So, turn on the PC and you should get a C prompt, turn on the drive. If you know the port than type l-o-eras PORT. If it says status 80 than you have to keep trying the command until you get status 72. If you don't get it after 10 tries, turn off the 360 wait a few seconds and turn it back on. Continue the command and it should give you a 72 after a couple more tries.
Now, type dosflash. It will list everything connected to your pc. You will see your 360 drive and then it will ask what selection you want so type whatever number it is. It will ask what you want to do, type W to write. Most likely it will give you a unknown flash type something message. This is normal, power cycle your 360 and repeat the dosflash step. It will than ask for the name of the custom firmware file. I usually do cfw.bin. It will than proceed to write and give you OKs. Once you get a checksum and a C prompt, you be done.
I don't know if JF hates my pc or hates Windows7 but it just a real pain now to actually erase and write so I just use it to make the custom firmware from previous dumps and off to dos. Oh well, end results are the same.
