EU to approve Yahoo/Microsoft search deal

The EU is expected to approve the search deal between Yahoo and Microsoft, says Reuters, with the 10-year partnership going into effect soon after approval.
The European Commission has until February 19th to approve or block the deal.

Things are getting wierder by the day. So let me get this straight. The Bureuacratic wonks somewhere in the belly of the beast known as the EU, are going to somehow make it so that Google, who I am no fan of, is going to end up with less market share in the browser market?
How will they be implementing that without some draconian measures?
I mean, people use whatever browser they want right? How would the EU be able to change that scenario?

Ammm...okay, so where did it say that the EU is trying to "sabotage" Google or something...
Who says EU is after Google? Where did you get that info from?

The way I'm reading this article it basically says that in the EU Microsoft and Yahoo's search percentages are going to be a combined total for the next ten years, assuming this gets approval.

"The partnership is expected to help both Bing and Yahoo take some market share from Google".
I'm surprised that one wouldn't understand that to, somehow how have a governmental body (EC) --through some sort of deal, ensure Bing and Yahoo artificially get increased market share that they aren't getting now, I don't se how you don't understand how this will artificially "take" from googles market share.
The Free Internet economy has Google with a 90% martket share, and some EC "deal" is going to strip some of that away somehow form google.

Mate, I don't know if English is your second language or not(it doesn't sound like!), but you really don't understand what you're reading... EU is not at the roots of some conspiracy to de-crown Google. The deal was made by Microsoft and Yahoo(read some old news, MS has tried to buy Yahoo numerous times), and all EU is doing is approve or disapprove the deal(not sure exactly what they are looking at, on what basis they would deny it, maybe antitrust regulations and such?).
EU didn't make any deal, didn't buy anything.

Am i missing something. Microsoft rejected the deal to purchase Yahoo, why is this coming up now? I'll be the first to say i live in a cave and don't play too much attention. Good news my cave does had indoor plumbing, electricity, heat and a decent computer :)
