Has anyone had a problem where the xbox scores the game discs. I think my boys have knocked the console over when it was in its upright position and now it seems that the laser is to close to the disc and sores the disc rendering the disc usless, also is it possible for me to get back ups of my damaged discs ( at 40quid a go i cannot afford to replace them)
If you have a current warranty, you can contact Microsoft directly and see if this is covered. Then Microsoft will do everything for you for free, including paying shipping.
You can contact the publishers of the games individually, by phone or email, and request replacement discs. They may actually do it if you explain your situation and send back the damaged discs. That is going to be on a publisher to publisher basis, though, and is anything but certain.
If that doesnt work out and playing on Xbox Live isn't important to you, you could also flash the firmware to modify your Xbox to play copied (backup) games once the drive was fixed, and in this way you could back up your games in the future, as well as potentially replace your damaged ones.
