Hi Guys,
First of all Mr Sicdude - I did try looking on the first 4 pages and could not find a thread and also I looked at the sticky's. I know there must be a thread somewhere as I remembered reading one for which dual layer dvd is good for use apart from the Verbs. Maybe you can direct me to the thread please? I remember you said you used something like Arita or something (not sure)
I cannot find stock from my local shops for the AOne RICHO brand of Dual Layer DVD's. I have been using these for a year now and they have been excellent. As there is no stock locally what else is effective please?
Thanks
Ste

Why you mention me lol
Ebay is good for discs, if i can't get no arita anywhere i get them from there.
The only dl dvd's i reccomend are
1:Verbatim
2:arita
3:Aone plus
In that order ;)

As long as you know that you are risking your laser, then that's your choice. The thread you are looking for is Here
I would recommend ONLY verbatims though

Thanks everyone.
I thought it was Arita. Cool my local store has these in stock. I think the ones in the link below will do the trick.

As for the risk factor well everything is a risk in life, but I am concious of the fact of the potential laser damage and am willing to live on the edge ;-)

Every ones goes on about verbs like they're the only brand of good discs, i have games burnt onto arita 2 years ago that still boot with no problems.

That's because they are the best, yes there are still some nearly as good ones out there, I'm not disputing that. Even outside of the 360 scene, verb's are know as the best quality disks.
Xbox's DVD drives are not designed to run burned games, only pressed disks so it does matter. I'm sure there are people saying they have ran on Memorex for years (same as your Arita), but it doesn't mean that its not a issue.
I personally use discs that are not verbatim s myself, but I would never recommend that anyone else does the same. That way, my advice has not wrecked their laser. :D
On a side note, I used to use the Arita for my XBOX 1 back in the day :D

Just burnt Forza 3 on the Ritek Arita Dual Layer DVD's and had no problems buring at 4 speed which I always do regardless. I had no coasters and game works perfectly.
I ended up buying it from a place called CK3.co.uk as it was cheaper and came within 2 days Royal Mail Recorded Signed For and from a Legit UK company.
Product Code:- SKU42
Arita Ritek 8x White Printable Dual Layer DVD+R DL (25 Pack)
Subtotal: £8.86
Shipping cost: £2.95
Total: £11.81
(Information above is for people who are looking to buy these also, which is cheaper than Ebay)
Only bad thing is that the DVD's did not come on a spindle, but I have loads lying around so I placed them all on there.
Thanks for the reccomendation.

I used to use nothing but Verbs. Eventually I tried Windata's ($11 for 20) and Memorex's ($35 for 50) to cut down on costs. Never had a bad burn with the Windata's, but I got 41 coasters out of the 50 pack of Memorex. So then I dumped Memorex and pretty much went exclusively to Windata's. About a month and a half to two months after the change my laser started failing hard. No slow, painful death either. It was just one day the games worked fine, the next day nothing. Did a POT calibration and that started a slow death process. I bought a new Xbox, and now in addition to installing each game to the hard drive before playing, I use nothing but Verbs again.
