I tried uninstalling spyware doctor as i was having problems with it at the time, it seemed like i'd done that as the desk top icon disappeared etc, it was late so i shut down an went to bed, turned on the pc the next day and it brought me to a black an white screen saying something like ''did you try installing/removing software or hardware etc'' and gave the option to do a system restore, so i did (big mistake i think?)
everything started up ok but spyware doctor was back on the desk top (yep restore an all that!) tried to uninstall it again but got this message ''Unins000.msg is missing'' now i have no idea how to get rid of it and it doesn't run anymore either!
I have vista by the way and any help would be great!

delete the icon and any of the files associated with it. You should be good.
You can try a third-party tool and I highly recommend Quusoft Uninstaller. You can use its "Force Uninstall" function(it is designed to troubleshoot the problem like you have met) to get rid of it.
