I know wave 3 on up games have to be SSv2 but when d/l a game that has been patch with ssv2 and split vid through abgx, it overwrites it to SSv1. What should I do?

This is the major problem that I see with ABGX right now. Basically, ABGX can actually make your game less safe to play, which totally negates the point of using it.

As far as I know, the only way to combat this is to use ABGX and then patch SSv2 again afterwards, if the verified rip in the ABGX database was ripped using a Kreon drive and there has bad SS data.

Somebody please correct me if I'm wrong.

$38 on new discs -- Check
$15 on burn after burn that showed as a DVD -- Check
$11 on new laser -- Check
$28 on new multimeter -- Check

Question about SSv1 to SSv2 through ABGX... I rip all my original games on a Kreon...I run them through ABGX and most come back as SSv1 and the Split DVD is unknow (or something like that). I let Abgx do it's thing. I then close out of ABGX and reopen it.... I then run the same game through ABGX again, and now it says it is SSv2 Trusted and the Split DVD is ok.... so isn't ABGX patching the game to SSv2 and checking for Split DVD for me?

I did this last night with my Dante's Inferno...and it came out like this...

Thanks.

Yes, but it is just a lucky coincidence that ABGX happened to have an SSv2 of that game on file. ABGX would just as soon have patched it with another SSv1 file from another Kreon drive. ABGX does not control for SS at all, except that it is simply there.

There is a big push toward 0800 drives now, since the weaknesses of the Kreon have been made apparent. Because of that, you may see more and more SSv2 in ABGX. That compliance is not mandated by the database or the program, however.

Hi all,

I'm a bit confused regarding this SSv1 / SSv2 subject.

No one's been able to answer this-- and maybe I'm just mixing something up here, hope someone can clear this up. I flashed my new box to LT and I'm not sure if I should re-burn my games with SSv2...

SSv1 is pre 1.6 0800 and Kreon output. SSv2 was added with the 1.6 release.

It takes ABGX like 1 second to identify if it is a SSv1 or SSv2 record- from what I understand, SSv1 can therefore be identified almost instantly as a "Kreon-" rip whereas SSv2 matches an "original" record.

Couldn't MS use a simple check to identify SSv1 burns almost instantly which would enable all SSv1 to be flagged straight away? Or is the XBOX itself unable to perform a check like this?

Thanks & cheers

Your looking too much into it. The simple answer is no. SSV1 and SSV2 is not a MS thing. It is a C4EVA firmware thing. It is how angles are read when is a disc is ripped. SSV1 and SSV2 can and will be sometimes equally the same. Google and do some research on this and you will have a better understanding of how it works.

Thanks for your reply, Smooth.

You're absolutely right-- and I'll try to rephrase that question.

The thing that gets me is:
ABGX can tell you which SS method was used to read the game. It'd be fine for me if this was the case with the .iso file only, eg the information being stored in the image file(s): But it can also tell you which method was used from a burned DVD.

Where is that information stored and/or how does ABGX do that?

That's where my initial question was aiming: Can't MS "read" the same information that ABGX does and hence identify a burned DVD straight away?

I have an Phillips Lite on with LT firmware and be4 I knew about that whole SSv1 vs SSv2 situation, most of my games was patched ssv1 (be4 I played online) Now I tossed them all out and reburned them using the manual patch method through ABGX converting SSv1 to SSv2.

Now I'm lost.....

All the games I've burned post LT have been run through ABGX and I only burn them if they have are verified and say they have been ripped by a 0800 drive, so does that mean if I have it set to auto patch, ABGX could have patched my game back to SSv1 or is it still going to be SSv2 ??

Found an interesting post on another forum -

''SSv1 means the drive measured the SS angles one time.
SSv2 means the drive measured the SS angles two times.''

''SSv1 ripped by Kreon drives is unsafe. (wave 1 and 2 Kreon rips MAY be safe, but this is unconfirmed)
SSv1 ripped by 0800 firmwares on 360 drives is safe.
SSv2 is safe.

It doesn't matter whether your game has SSv1 or SSv2, just so long as the SS was ripped by an 0800 firmware. Online or off, that's all you need to worry about.''
