Testing a Flash?

At the moment, I don't have any 360 original or backup games at my house, I just have the console which I bought today. I have been spending hours for the last few days reading how to flash my drive, which I now know today is the Lite-on 83850 made in July 09. I won't have any backups to test for a day or two until I see a friend of mine, is there some other way of knowing whether or not the flash was successful? Or at least to get an idea without actually putting in a backup to see?

The idea of flashing the drive makes me nervous, I'd like to be over with it and know if it was successful or not. Also, I have my 360 disassembled ready to be flashed, once I do have a backup at my disposal to test the flash, can I test it with the 360 disassembled? The eject button was removed and the front panel is off.

i believe the only way to test it is with a backup.

you can test it without reassembling it by just pressing the eject button with a pin or screwdriver.
