I am having trouble getting my 360 with the samsung ms25 to play original copies of games. When I put in an OEM game, it says play DVD, not play game, then goes to the "to play this put in an xbox 360 console" screen

I have the iXtreme 1.6 firmware. I did the rubber band trick to resolve the open tray issue.

It will play backup copies fine, as well as DVD's. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I would try cleaning the lense(s) which helps the majority of the time. If that doesn't help...oddly enough, you may be in a rare instance where you have to do a pot calibration. Lastly, you may need a new laser.

"All drives should be updated to Lite Touch + (LT+) firmware if playing on XBOX live. Samsung drives and pre-78/79 Hitachi drives do not utilize AP 2.5. All other drives are considered to be detectable by Microsoft (YMMV). Make sure all rips are ABGX verified, contain SSv2, and patched AP2.5 (where needed). XGD3 must currently be burned on new drive with PC Burner Max firmware for 100% rip. All modded consoles can be potentially unsafe for use on XBOX live."

I tried cleaning the lens, made no difference. It will play the game every once in a while (1 out of 20 times). What is the pot calibration?

Pot Calibration is where you increase the strength of the laser so it can read disks better. It requires you to take apart your DVD drive and turn a small screw in small increments. You will need a multimeter to check the resistance level. Use google, there are some decent guides knocking around.
