I loaded the .dvd file into ImgBurn and attempted to write at 2.4x using Verbatim DVD+R DL's made in Singapore. When I begin to write, it says "Querying Current 'Book Type' Setting..." on the bottom of the window and it never does anything. Any attempts to cancel it do not work and I end up having to shut off my computer and turn it back on. I've tried a couple of discs now, and two different images but keep getting the same thing.
While Verbatim is highly regarded, could I have gotten a bad batch, or is this problem caused by some other issue? If it matters I'm using XP 32-bit.
This is really hard to answer without knowing what your system configuration is like. I would try burning with something other than verbatim (I know, rare suggestion)then test. Also, see if there is new firmware available for the drive and update as companies are constantly adding support for different media brands/types. If this is a hardware conflict you may need to try a different burner.
"All drives should be updated to Lite Touch + (LT+) firmware if playing on XBOX live. Samsung drives and pre-78/79 Hitachi drives do not utilize AP 2.5. All other drives are considered to be detectable by Microsoft (YMMV). Make sure all rips are ABGX verified, contain SSv2, and patched AP2.5 (where needed). XGD3 must currently be burned on new drive with PC Burner Max firmware for 100% rip. All modded consoles can be potentially unsafe for use on XBOX live."
Thank you for the reply, I got it working after doing a little research. In ImgBurn, clicking Tools then Settings, and then clicking on the "Write" tab, lastly unchecking "Auto 'Change Book Type'(*)" solved the problem. The backup burned perfectly and plays as it should.

Thanks for letting everyone know what you did to fix it.
